Delthaeus desperately wants Senn to remember what he had to go through when their family was attacked, but there is only so much the little clanless boy can remember before it falls back to Ria. Just when he thinks this is the end for him, more questions get asked before Senn can find the answers. It is but a matter of time

Author's note: we experimented *hard* with this chapter so the format is slightly different. everything scored through resembles redacted information on the part of the character, but left in place for reading purposes

also, I went ham on the background for this illustration, so bear with me on that one XD

Darminian paced the ground with his head in his hands, panic plastered all across his body with tension in every fibre of his being. He couldn't believe that his actions had resulted in such a mess, putting the life of his family at stake. There wasn't anything else to do and he was about to potentially expose the most beautiful mistake of his life to a man who could rain terror down on him and his family in a heartbeat. He wasn't left with another choice. He had to put his family first, above else; his sons needed him now more than ever.

When Thalleous arrived and dismounted Timber, Darminian was pleased to see the glowing blue markings of another Sendaris. He couldn't express his relief on a sight for sore eyes with words, but he would try.

"At last, you are here! Thank you for answering my call!" He had finally stopped pacing to greet Thalleous.

The Sendaris champion was warm as he smiled in response to being welcomed with such relief. He was always pleased to be of help to another.

"I would never refuse a plea for help from a Sendaris brother." He patted Darminian's back fondly and promptly stopped smiling when he realised the amount of tension he harboured in his shoulders. He tilted his head and frowned, looking the other Sendaris up and down. "Why have you called for me?"

Darminian waited for a moment to breathe as he recollected his thoughts articulately. He looked at Thalleous as he saw the concern in his eyes, and he was prompted to act fast. He turned to a single tree nearby and, behind it, laid many personal effects and belongings. This only brought more concern to Thalleous as Darminian ran over to it, nervousness in every stride. He was gone for a moment before returning with a small child in his arms – another Ardoni. He handed it across to Thalleous, who hesitated to take it. He narrowed his eyes as the child wriggled in his arms.

That was when the memory became fuzzy. That's when Senn failed to recall details, no matter how hard he tried. It was as though his own mind was redacting part of his life to prevent him from knowing the truth that Delthaeus was trying so hard to tell him.

"Whose child is this?"

"The child is mine, Thalleous."

Even the Sendaris champion's face was blurred, but a part of Senn was glad of that. His memories were tainted enough as it was, let alone seeing the face of a liar in place of a hero.
