Finally, the elevator reached the top of the lighthouse, opening out onto the observation deck. Dragonite and Dragapult flew out from the enclosed room, stretching their wings as they lead the way. The moment I stepped out to follow them, an extremely powerful surge of psychic energy washed over me, causing me to drop to my knees.

Both dragons quickly picked up on this but before they could help me up, they were overcome by the same energy. My eyes flared up as I tried to establish a connection between our auras but this time it was too difficult. I tried and tried but to no avail, the psychic energy causing too much interference.

"Well, well, well, it looks like even you can't resist the power of this pokemon, Aaron."

A voice echoed out in front of us and as I looked up, my eyes fell onto a tall man wearing a pitch black suit. His hands were stuffed in his pockets, a smug look plastered on his face. A red letter 'R' was sewed onto the left pocket of his suit jacket, his eyes fierce under the setting sun.

"Now that you and that piece of shit kid are out of the way, no one in this region can stop me from achieving my goal."

The man took a slow step forward, enjoying his position of power. Both dragons let out defiant roars showing that they wouldn't let him have his way so easily. The man's lips curled into a frown, seeing the two dragon pokemon laying it all out for their trainer.

"Hmph, this bond between trainer and pokemon is nothing more than a lie. Pokemon were made to serve us and you are the perfect example of this, Aaron."

I gritted my teeth, staring daggers at the man as he turned away slightly. I looked over to Dragonite, then Dragapult, seeing that they weren't going to allow something like this to get the best of them.

"And that's exactly why you could never beat me or Red fairly. You aren't shit Giovanni."

The man lowered his head, his lips curling into an evil grin. He turned around to face me, his eyes burning with pride. "And yet here you are, proving my point. Your pokemon only serve you and nothing more. That's the reality of this cruel world."

I wasn't hearing what Giovanni was saying. I had heard it all before and I would be damned if I was to let something like this get in between my pokemon and I. I pounded my fist on the wooden floor below, mustering the strength to stand to my feet.

"Now, now, we can't have that can we?" Giovanni grinned as he motioned his arm toward me. "Deal with them."

Out of nowhere, an invisible force struck my across my chest, sending me flying into the wall behind me. I coughed up blood as my back crashed into the wall of the lighthouse as I slumped to the floor in a heap.

But I wasn't done there. I looked up to Giovanni who was now stood on the opposite side of the room to me. Now that there was some distance between us, I was able to look around the room more freely without having to take my attention away from Giovanni.

To my left there was an undeniable presence, hovering slightly in the air. I looked over, seeing a gray skinned pokemon, its long purple tail snaking in the air as it floated silently. Its deep violet eyes stared into mine as I felt its psychic energy overpowering me, forcing me to the floor again.

"It took a while, but Mewtwo came around eventually." Giovanni's voice echoed around the observation deck but as I looked around, I noticed that someone was missing.

Red was nowhere to be found but no matter how much I searched with my eyes, I couldn't find him. Giovanni must have picked up on this, noticing the desperate look on my face. "I already told you, Aaron. I've already dealt with that nuisance. He won't help you now."
