07 : stranger?

minhee's pov

"so minhee, how's school?" my mum asked

"it's fine" i answered

"im sorry you have to live like this" she cried

"no mum. it's okay. it's not your fault" i pulled her into my embrace

after my parents divorced and dad left us,
we suffered financial problems. mum still has her savings but she use it to pay my school fees, buy groceries and other supplies

meanwhile my brother is working to pay for the bills and the rent because we moved out. i also needed to buy school supplies so i decided to find a part time job without telling my mum because i know she would be worried

[ McDonald's restaurant ]

"at least i get a free bts meal" he boasted to his friends who visited him at work

"dude it's not about free items. you're still studying and working part time job" youngtae stated

"didn't daniel hyung said he would pay anything you need?" seongmin asked

"yeah but he's already paying a big amount of the bills and rent. i don't wanna be a burden" he answered

"it's okay, we understand. if you don't have time to do homework you can text me and i'll do a copy of mine" hyeongjun remarked

minhee thanked them for helping him and they left so he could focus on his job. at the same time he also prayed hwayoung never came to where he was working because he didn't want her to know

working at the McDonald's was actually fun. he would either serve customers at the counter or the drive thru. but it's also exhausting having to deal with different types of customers. nonetheless he still had to go through it

"minhee?"

"yes, that's me" he looked up to see the customer that said his name

"good afternoon sir" i bowed. "what do you want to order?"

"the happy meal, please"

"okay sir, please wait for a moment" he turned to face the kitchen and started to pack his order. he quickly wrote something on a piece of paper and slipped it inside the meal

"here is your happy meal. the free toy is inside the bag. enjoy!"

"thank you" he glanced at him one last time and left

minhee's pov

he was in the bathroom, crying. 'it's him? it's actually him?' he asked himself. a lot was going on in his mind. he washed his face and continued his work

stranger's pov

in his car, he stared at the meal he bought. it wasn't for anyone. he was just passing by the restaurant and noticed him at the counter. he wasn't sure at first and decided to approach him. and it was actually his son, kang minhee.

he opened the happy meal and saw a piece of paper. he thought it was the receipt and was about to throw it but he saw his name

for : kang daejung
i hope you're happy
but don't be happier :)

he couldn't hold back the tears and started sobbing. he took a picture of him and a woman from his wallet
