The next morning I was woken by a knock. Confused, I slowly straightened up in bed. Again the knocking. Rubbing my eyes, I glanced at my mobile phone. Nine o'clock. Damn it! I was suddenly wide awake, jumped promptly out of bed and hurried to the door. I opened the door with a flourish and looked into Lando's cheerful face. "Good morning," he wished me with a smile, but I just looked at him perplexed. I had just remembered that I must look terrible. "Um." I cleared my throat sheepishly and took a step back to let Lando in. "Did I wake you up?" he asked, amused. I blushed slightly. "Yeah, I forgot to set an alarm," I admitted, running a hand through my messy hair. "No big deal. You go get ready. I'll just wait here in the meantime." With those words, the Brit had already flung himself onto the bed and gone to check his phone. I took a deep breath and then disappeared into the bathroom with the clothes I needed. There I took a quick shower, but my hair threw a spanner in the works. Curls were everything, but definitely not easy to maintain. I despaired again of this bird's nest called hair. "Damn it!", I cried out and slammed the hairbrush into the sink. This happened to me often. Almost every day. "Is everything okay Hailey?" "Yeah. Everything's fine! Almost done!", I replied awkwardly.

Fifteen minutes later, I had managed to finish. My hair was now dry and tied into a bun. "Soo, I'm done then," I said rather euphorically and stepped back into the bedroom. Lando was lying on his stomach on the bed and looked up briefly from his phone. "Black is your favourite colour, isn't it?" he smirked and rose. I looked down at myself and had to smile. There really wasn't much colour in my outfit. I just shrugged my shoulders. "Okay, shall we go then?" "Yep." So off we went and strolled outside, where we bumped into Cara once, who just said have a good time.

"Are you better than last night?" Attentively, Lando seemed to be looking at me. "I was just tired," I merely evaded, keeping my eyes back on the pavement. "Mmm." We walked down the street I had walked with Cara yesterday. Lando had meant he'd already picked out a café a few streets away. Should be just fine with me.

In fact, we had only walked a few streets and arrived at a small café. It looked quite cosy, which promptly made me feel at ease. Together we sat down at a table in the back and rested my head on my forearms, which I had placed on the tabletop earlier. "What do you want," came from Lando, after which I just mumbled, "milk." He gave a short laugh. "There is no milk. Besides, aren't you going to eat?" I shook my head. "The last time I had breakfast was when I was in seventh grade," I explained, raising my head again. "Well never mind. Coffee it is." He nodded and then explored the menu. I was a little uncomfortable with the silence, so I searched feverishly for a topic we could talk about, but couldn't think of anything. Luckily, however, a waitress came and took our order. Shortly after she left, Lando started talking again. "Where are you actually from?" he asked with interest. "I was born in Germany and eventually moved to London. I needed some distance from home," I told him a little nervously. "A bit much distance, don't you think?" I nodded absent-mindedly. "I just wanted to start over." "Okay. I was born in Bristol and I still live there." My coffee, as well as Lando's breakfast arrived, immediately prompting me to sip my cup. Its contents were still hot, however, as you might expect. " Ouch!", I squeaked softly and lowered the cup again a little to puff. Lando regarded me with amusement. "That's not funny!", I complained, playfully offended. "No. You're right," he tried to remain serious, but couldn't keep from smiling. "You told me you used to go to races with your father. Why not anymore?" I froze for a moment. Yes, why not anymore? I just couldn't bear it. "Something happened in the past that doesn't concern anyone," I said coldly and looked outside. A moment ago I had been calm. I hadn't minded being alone with him. But now I was getting nervous again and really just wanted to leave. "I'm sorry if I offended you with that question. I just want to get to know you better." I sighed. It wasn't his fault I still couldn't handle it, after all. "It's okay," I mumbled and then asked a little louder, "You're racing your first race on Sunday, aren't you excited about it?" I turned my gaze back to him and took in the twinkle in his eye as he started talking. "Yeah a little bit. But I'm actually incredibly excited. The Formula 1 bolides have such a different feeling to drive than those of a Formula 2. Actually, I can't wait to get back in the car." Involuntarily, a smile crept onto my lips. He reminded me a little of my older brother. He used to talk about it so enthusiastically too. Unfortunately, it never made it to his first race. "What are you thinking about right now?" the Brit snapped me out of my thoughts. "Hmm," was all I said and continued sipping my coffee.

"When is the photo shoot anyway?", I wanted to know after a while of just sitting there with my eyes closed and my cup to my lips. "We've got to get going, I think," Lando said. "Okay." I opened my eyes again and set the empty cup down. Lando had also finished and slowly rose, which I did to him. He called a waitress over to us, which I was already getting the money out for my coffee, but Lando just paid for both of us. "You don't have to pay for me," I mumbled. "I wanted to." Lando just smiled at me and left the café with me.

Outside, we walked down the street side by side. "You probably think I'm pretty boring now, don't you?", I asked unsurely, looking up at the brunette. "No, not that. You just seem to need to melt out a bit more." I nodded in agreement. "It's hard for me to open up. To be easygoing with others. You're also, strangely one of the few people I'm pretty easygoing with, by my standards," I explained more than I would have with anyone else. "Thank you for your openness," he said honestly and quite by accident the back of his hand touched mine. I cringed briefly, but then smiled.
