Amelia hugged her back.

"I'm going." She said, pulling away after five minutes.

"I would go too, but this jerk here, is forcing me not to." Eliza grumbled, pointed towards Lorenzo, who was glaring at her.

"What? You are going to the warehouse?" Jace spoke for the first time, since Sarah came.

Jace was staring at Sarah the whole time, while Sarah kept ignoring him.

"I'll see you soon." She said, getting up, ignoring Jace again.

"You're not going, Sarah." Jace grabbed her arm.

She jerked her arm away from him.
"And who said, I will do what you say?" She smirked.

'This is going to be fun.' Amelia thought.

"You will. You have to. You're not going there." Jace said, with finality in his tone.

"Why?" Sarah asked, looking offended.

Did he think she was too weak to stand the sights there?

That's what Sarah was thinking.

But Jace was just afraid, she might get injured herself, while beating him. She had a really bad temper.

"Because I don't want you to go there and learn some deadly moves or something and then try them on me." Jace said, smirking.

"Oh! you're afraid." She said, smirking back.

"Yeah. You can say that." Jace said. A smirk etched on his face. Amelia looked at him, shocked.

Everyone just watched the exchange with amusement.

"Stop playing your little games with me, Jace. I'm not a kid." Sarah said, frustratedly.

"Fine then. I'll come straight to the point." Jace dragged her out of the room.

They stood in the hallway, with Sarah crossing her arms, standing before him.

"Why are you avoiding me?" He asked.

"I'm not?" Sarah shrugged.

"Don't lie, Sarah." Jace said, almost in a gentle tone. "I don't even know what I did wrong."

It was hard for him to stay away from Sarah. She was his closest friend after all.

"I'm not lying. Now, if you don't mind, I need to go. I have a date today." Sarah muttered, not looking at him.

Something inside Jace did not feel right.

"Actually, I do mind." The words came out, before he could stop. "I need your help actually."

"What? My help? What happened?" She asked, walking back to Jace, looking at him worriedly.

"Yeah. I was actually wondering if, you know, you could help me make that sweet thing you make. Your Mom's recipe? For Amelia, she will love it and maybe it will help lighten her mood a little." Jace rubbed the back of his neck, sheepishly.

Sarah smiled unknowingly. She knew Jace had a soft spot for Amelia. She knew he loved her and cared for her. He just didn't show it.

But she also knew, Jace was playing his little games again. To make her stay.

That thought alone was comforting and made her feel warm inside.

So, she gave up and nodded, agreeing to teach Jace how to make lemon tarts.

"Can you not kill him?" Amelia said, as everyone's gaze snapped to her.

"What? Why?" Daniel was the first one to say.

"I mean, he got what he deserved. He's just seventeen. You can't just kill him when he has his whole life ahead of him. Maybe he regrets it. Whether he does or not, he doesn't deserve to be killed for that." She mumbled, then looked at them. They all looked deep in thought.

The brothers never thought about it that way. They just followed one rule: you mess with our family, you get killed.

And this guy slapped the Mafia Princess. That's the last thing, anyone should even imagine to do.

But Amelia was right too. He already saw what monsters, the Costello brothers are.

They always admired how Amelia thought of situations. But they hated her overthinking.

"Okay." Lorenzo nodded as the brothers just kept to their thoughts. Eliza shot her a smile.

"I beat him good." She whispered and giggled. Amelia giggled a little as Lorenzo just glared at Eliza.

Amelia was filled with regret and guilt.
Its not his fault he started hating her so soon. She was never good enough for anyone.

Next Day

Amelia's POV

I got up feeling this heavy weight on my mind and heart.

I went downstairs only to find Jace laying on the couch in the living room. Its early in the morning, no one's awake. He shouldn't have been awake too.

Ugh. I didn't want to see a monkey first thing in the morning.

Jace looked up and his gaze landed on me. His eyes were red and his hair were messy. He looked exhausted.

"What happened?" I asked. He just stared at me blankly, then shook his head.

"I was drunk. I have a hangover now." He said rubbing his head.

"Why?" I asked.

"What, why?" He asked, in an annoyed tone.

"Why did you drink, I mean?" I asked. He didn't look like he was stressed. But people can hide it well.

"I drink when I'm stressed and its paining inside." He said, looking away from me.

"Does it make the pain go away?" I asked, looking at him sadly.

He furrowed his eyebrows, then nodded, looking at me intensely.

I've been to a bar before but never touched alcohol. I just thought it was just tasty and just made you sleepy, that's why people were so crazy for it. I didn't drink, because I rarely consumed anything. Who knew it could make you forget about your problems?

I studied for a bit and painted for the whole day. After dinner, I just sprawled on my bed and stared at the ceiling, deep in thought.

Should I try it? It should be better than shutting off.

I got up and made my way to the closet.

I'll just try it, once. No one will ever know, I did.

But what if Lorenzo finds out?

I stopped in my tracks thinking for a moment.
He'll find out, if he gets even slightly suspicious.

Fuck it. I'm a disappointment anyways.
