The morning sun shone brightly through my thick curtains. I snuggled closer to my pillow, letting out a tired sigh. My body was sore from all the training it had gone through.

Today I was planning to rest, save up my energy for the next training day.

Which was tomorrow.

Wincing, I slid off my bed and slowly made my way to the bathroom.

" Hello, girl. " I smiled patting my dog, Belle, on the head. She barked, pushing her head further into my hand. I touched the tip of her nose before leaving to feed her.

Some weeks back she had five lovely pups. The dad, Andre, was currently at the vet. Apparently, he ate something he shouldn't have.

Placing Belle's food down, I checked on the pups before leaving for my parent's house. I've had Belle and Andre since they were pups and might I say what a relationship they have.

Sometimes I even get jealous.

After a few minutes of driving, I finally arrived at my parents' house.

" Dad. " I smiled pulling him into a hug. " Princesse, how are you? " He asked with a smile.

" I'm good, but a little sore from the training. " His smile slightly fell, " I'm sorry dear, I just don't want anything to happen to my lovely girls. " He explained. I nodded in understanding.

" THENA! " A voice shouted interrupting us. I pulled away from him.

I laughed grabbing my little sister as she launched herself into my arms.

" Hello chipmunk. " I greeted, tickling her chin. Lucia giggled pushing my hand away. " I missed you. " She pouted.

" Aw, I'm sorry chipmunk. I'll make it up with ice cream? " I asked with a gasp. She furiously nodded, bouncing in my hand.

All the while, dad was watching us with a big smile on his face.

" ATHENA CHEVROLET! " I heard mom shout. Wincing, I placed my Lucia on the ground and prayed to my ancestors that she wasn't angry.

I walked into the kitchen, crossing my fingers.

" Yes? "

She was mixing batter.

Surprisingly, there was no cake in sight.

She narrowed her eyes at me. " You came and didn't tell me? " She asked resting her hands on her hips.

I gulped nervously. " I only just arrived, mom. " I played with my fingers nervously.

Her face had a blank expression before a large smile overtook it.

" I missed you so much. " She cooed pinching my cheeks. " Mom it was only a few days. " I whined rubbing my cheek when she released it.

" My poor baby girl. " She sighed rubbing my shoulders. " I'm fine, plus, I'm willing to do it if it helps me protect my family. " I smiled.

Mom sniffed, pulling me into a hug.

I threw my head back, letting out a loud laugh. We were currently having dinner and dad was telling us one of his silly jokes.

" I'm serious! " He tried convincing us. It was nice to see this side of him. When I was little, he would barely show us his warm and fatherly side considering he had just taken over the mafia and men were constantly around.

After mom had me, they had trouble conceiving another child which led to them losing hope. That was until some years ago, little Lucia showed up in our lives.

I remember that day clearly. Mom had gone to the hospital because she had been getting pregnancy symptoms. Unfortunately, the doctor said she wasn't. On her way out, she said she overheard nurses talking about a mother who had just given birth and left the baby.

She decided to intervene and was happy when she heard the baby was going up for adoption in a few weeks.

Long story short, they adopted the baby who's my beautiful sister today.

" Are you sure you're full dear? " Mom asked looking at me with concern.

This lady just wants to keep stuffing food down my mouth, but I love her nonetheless.

" Yes, I'm sure. " I smiled. I didn't notice dad left the room until he walked back in with a sour look on his face.

" Athena, my office now. " He said in a serious voice. Excusing myself from the table, I followed behind him.

" What is it? "

He kept silent, running and hand through his hair. " The Russian Mafia is coming to visit. " He gritted out. My eyes widened. " What do they want? " I asked taking a seat in front of him.

" To form some sort of alliance. " He sighed. I knew about the Russian mafia. They were known for their ruthlessness - although all mafias were ruthless - they were said to be worse.

" What are you going to do? " I leaned back on the chair, nibbling on my bottom lip.

" I can't deny them because I don't want a war to start. " He said.

" When are they coming? " I asked curiously. He let out another sigh, " Next week. "

We were in silence for a while before I spoke up.

" Are you going to tell ma? " I looked at him with a raised eyebrow.

" I was hoping you would. " Dad said chuckling nervously. I sighed, " Some things you have to tell her. Like this! This is something big. "

He nodded. " She'll be okay, trust me. " I reassured him.

After chatting for a while, I decided to leave since it was getting late.

" I'll see you tomorrow chipmunk. " I smiled down at Lucia. " Are we still going for ice cream? " She asked with a hopeful look in her eyes.

I nodded placing a kiss on her forehead. " Of course love. " Lucia jumped happily, running off to her room. " I'll see you all tomorrow, bye mom, dad. " I said hugging them both.

" Goodbye princesse, take care. " Dad said while mom gave me a little wave. I could've seen the curious look in her eyes and just hoped he would tell her as soon as possible.
