CHAPTER 13- Barbecue and Sour Cream

"Edi sorry! Akala mo naman ang laki ng atraso ko sa'yo. Kapag binunyag ko yang sikreto mo, who you ka sa akin." Pagtataray ni Carina sa kanya.

I wonder what her secret is?

"Go ahead and tell! I will make your life miserable." Professor Rodriguez rolled her eyes on Carina. I thought kami ni Steven and isip bata. Sila rin pala.

Tahimik lang kaming nanonood sa magpinsan na kanina pa nag ka-kantiyawan.

"Athena, are you available tonight? Wala kasi akong ka-date eh." Carina is pouting while looking at me.

"What do you mean?" I don't have any plans because I told my manager na off ko dapat during Saturdays and Sundays.

"Because.. Lorenzo bought movie tickets for four people. Ayoko naman maging third wheel." She is now looking at me with her eyes pleading.

"Then don't join them instead of making yourself a third wheel." I truthfully told her.

Ayaw ko rin namang sumama kasi nga iniiwasan ko nga si Professor Eira.

"Sige na! Have pity on me! Favorite namin ni Eira yung ipapalabas sa cinema and today is the first day of showing. I don't wanna miss it." Inilagay ni Carina ang kamay niya sa braso ko.

Professor Eira suddenly looked at me and waited for my answer.

"I don't know.. I'll let you know later." I honestly told her.

"I'll look forward to seeing you then!" Carina hugged me.

I didn't even say yes to her. Hayst!

After we ate our lunch, sabay sabay kami nila Steven, Chinee, and Matthew na tumayo para pumunta na sa next class namin ng bigla akong tinawag ni Professor Rodriguez.

"Athena, meet me in my office later regarding the Engagement Activity in London." She was just in her poker face while saying that.

Napatingin naman ako kay Carina na nakangisi ng nakakaloko. What's her problem?

"Yes, Professor Rodriguez. I'll meet you later."

After our class, pinauwi ko na sila Chinee, Steven and Matthew. Dumiretso naman ako agad sa office ni Professor Rodriguez. Carina texted me that we have to meet at 9 pm sa may Global Mall. I didn't reply back yet.

I'm here sa labas ng office ni Professor Rodriguez. I knocked three times until she opened the door. Seems like her aura is different today. Hindi siya mapakali.

I decided to sit on her couch as usual. Prente din siyang umupo sa kanyang office table.

"Do you have the acceptance letter with you?" She asked me upfront.

"Yeah, I have." Kinuha ko yung acceptance letter ko sa bag and gave it to her.

Tinignan niya ang papel and looked at me.

"You have to sign it." utos niya sa akin.

"Why would I sign it? I told you I'm gonna give my slot to- "

Hindi na natuloy ang sasabihin ko dahil pinutol na niya ako.

"I already spoke with the University officials. They are going to give another slot to Stella. You don't have to worry about anything. May additional budget pa ang University for one more person." She gave me an assurance.

"R-really?" Na enlighten naman agad ang feelings ko dahil sa nangyari. Ang saya saya ko.

Tumayo ako at mabilis na pumunta sa kanya para yakapin siya. "This means a lot to me and Stella.. thank you so much."
