In New York, I have run a club for some time now. It wasn't super well known but it was enough to earn a comfy living and have a little extra for myself. It was a nice club with low lit lights of course and private rooms for private things if you know what I mean. I worked at the bar some nights when I felt like getting tips, but other than that, I stayed in my office which is upstairs.

Tonight, I decided to go down to the bar because I wanted to buy an expensive jacket that had caught my eye a few nights ago along one of the outlets nearby. So around nine pm, I went down and got my things in order to start serving my customers. The music was especially loud that night for some reason. It might have been because I had a lot on my mind at the moment. And the music was not helping any to control my thoughts and stop me from overthinking. The club was not doing so well and I couldn't understand the reason for it. I might try some renovations or add entertainment. I'm wasn't sure yet.

Just as I was in the middle of my thoughts, I saw her walk in through the doors. I had seen her around before, but I had never said anything to her or looked in her direction because she was so intimidating to me. She was tall, much taller than me. She had short blond hair with bangs that must have made it difficult for her to even see through over her face. She dressed nice. Most of the time, I see her in a suit walking down the streets with sunglasses on to cover her eyes. Since my club was quite dark, she had taken them off to reveal her icy blue eyes that had noticed mine staring at her.

She stopped walking for a moment when she saw me. Probably because she was caught off guard from me looking at her. She stared right back at me and I broke off the eye contact because I was getting too nervous and I did not want to be made uncomfortable at the moment. She then continued walking and came up to the bar. The seat that was right in front of me was then taken by her looking at my every move.

I noticed the rings she had on that fit her perfectly and matched the energy she gave off. I was in the middle of cleaning some glasses, so I finished them up fast and asked "what can I get you?" to try and be professional.

"Just a beer," she replied. She was checking something on her phone and didn't even bother to look up at me when she talked. I thought it was kind of rude but I didn't let it get the best of me. I grabbed a bottle and handed it to her. She took it out of my hands and as we made eye contact she began making conversation.

"My name is Lou by the way, I work nearby and thought I should come check out the place" she started.

"Nice to meet you" I said as I shook hands with her. Her hands were surprisingly soft because it didn't match the hardness of her personality. "I'm Y/N, it is awfully nice of you to drop in"

"Well I thought I might scope out my competition while I'm free at the moment" Lou said in a low tone. I didn't know if it was meant to sound like she was going to take down my whole business, but I was not fond of it.

"Oh, I- umm, competition?" I wasn't sure what she had meant by that. Did she run a club too? I already knew the answer to that though I didn't like it. I also didn't like the thought of having to fight with her for customers.

She took a sip of her beer and placed it back down as she looked back up at me. I was almost towering above her trying to be as close to her as possible even though she was clearly taller than me. The floor behind the bar protected me from whatever she was going to throw at me and the higher level of ground made me feel more confident than if she were to be standing in front of me.

"Don't you know?" I acted confused as I wished she stopped talking there. A rivalry was the last thing I wanted. "Darling, I run the club just down the street." She smirked as she talked, making me blush and half angry too. "Is the owner in, I would like to speak with them." She sees me as a bartender and a bartender only. That explains the coldness she would give me at times when she talked to me.

I smiled on the inside. I didn't let her see it though. "Yeah, let me take you to her office" I said, playing the part of a worker the best I could.
