Prologue- A New Age

Start from the beginning

Even though I wanted to be Champion to protect the region, the perks of such a title were definitely a benefit. Numerous sponsor ships and million dollar deals allowed me to live without needing to worry about a roof over my head. The top floor Penthouse in Lumiose City was something I had my eyes on ever since receiving my first huge paycheck.

In this new modernised age of people and pokemon, everything was moving forward and pokemon had become the forefront of every business on the planet. Pokemon battles and contests were what inspired young trainers to start their journeys across the world.

"Professor Sycamore has something for us tomorrow that we should go check out."

Elaine sat up on the sofa, turning her attention away from her phone to me. She had an intrigued smile on her face, a look I hadn't seen in a long time.

"Sounds interesting. But you know what sounds more interesting?"

Slowly, she stood up from the sofa and I could see that she was just wearing an over-sized plain black hoodie. Thankfully, Dragonite had already disappeared into the back, eager to see everyone else again.

"I think I have a good idea."

Soon enough, the two of us were sat across one of the sofas in the living room, movie snacks in hand. We hadn't decided on the film but it wasn't important because we wouldn't watch it anyway. I sat up against the back of the sofa, Elaine laying with her legs across mine.

We made eye contact for a brief second and that was all we needed to know what that meant. I dropped the remote to the floor, turning my full attention to the light blonde beside me. In the dim room, I could see the faint image of a familiar pokemon.

I looked away for half a second, unsure if I was seeing things. Almost instantly, Elaine picked up on this, sitting up beside me, blanket over her shoulders. She carefully reached her arms around my back, resting her head on my right shoulder.

"Aaron?"

Her soft voice pulled me out of my thoughts. I sat up, returning her embrace as I moved to lie down across the sofa. Elaine was now laying across my chest as she pulled the blanket over the two of us as we continued where we left off.

The Next Day

As agreed, Elaine and I met the Professor at his lab at midday sharp. Even though we were waiting on two more people, Professor Sycamore told us that he had to show the two of us something first.

He lead us down a familiar route and soon enough, the two of us were stood inside of the massive open roofed terrarium. There were all sorts of started pokemon who were blissfully playing around. This brought back memories of the first time Sceptile and I met. Even as a young Treecko, there was nothing that would stop him from pursuing his path to the top.

"What are we back here for Professor? Are you giving away more pokemon?"

Quickly, Professor Sycamore shook his head, turning our attention to something that his assistant was preparing. Just behind, I could see the Professor's Garchomp carrying something heavy with his assistant trying her best to direct him.

She was a young child with red hair that fell just past her ears. The girl wore a large green beanie hat over her head, her mahogany brown eyes shining in the sunlight. After a moment, everything was prepared and I had to say, I was more than excited now. Under the large drapes, our surprise was hidden and now the suspense was tangible.

In one quick motion, the Professor removed the drapes, revealing an egg within an incubator. The machine was attached to various other scientific looking machines with all sorts of signals and measurements being displayed.

"As you can see, this is a pokemon egg. I don't know how it showed up, but Alain found it on the front doorstep with a note attached to it." The Professor reached into his back pocket, slowly pulling out the aforementioned note. "It's addressed to you Aaron."

I reached out to take the note from the Professor's outstretched hand. I studied the envelope, noticing that my name was written in large letters across the front. I had so many questions and I hoped that some would be answered with this note.

"So this egg just showed up with this note, out of nowhere?" Elaine spoke for the both of us.

This the most unusual thing I'd head of but it just seemed a little odd. Quickly, I turned to the note in my hands, opening the envelope.

My eyes drank in the words on the paper, committing them to memory as I was told to by the note. I could see that everyone else was intrigued to see what the note was about but it clearly told me to keep everything I read a secret. However, there was one thing that I could reveal.

"Whoever wrote the note owned that egg." I nodded toward the incubator before continuing, "Their name isn't mentioned here but it says that the egg is a gift for me."

There was a stunned silence as everyone processed what I had just said. A few moments later, Alain joined the rest of us in the terrarium. He was equally as confused as us, telling us that the egg just showed up out of nowhere.

After everything was cleared up, Professor Sycamore returned his attention to me, a more relaxed expression on his face this time.

"I'm guessing you want to take this egg with you?"

Instantly, I nodded, intrigued by what the mysterious pokemon would be. I held my six pokeballs in my hands, weighing up who I would swap out for the egg. Eventually, I made my decision, deciding to part ways with Slowbro.

The aquatic pokemon emerged, understanding the situation. "If you learn anything about this person make sure to contact me," my parting message as we said our goodbyes.

Soon enough, the Professor had removed the egg from the incubator. It was placed on the operating table, beside a smaller incubator. There wasn't much that needed to be said, as I already understood how to take care of a pokemon egg.

"Elaine I have something for you as well!"

Once again, the Professor reached into his back pocket, taking out a small black chiseled case. He slowly opened it, revealing two spherical stones. The larger one was black in colour, with a pink spiral in its centre. To its side was a smaller lavender coloured gemstone, a turquoise blue spiral twisting in the stone's centre.

"Wow! Perfect timing Professor."

Elaine picked up a small box from the operating table, pulling out a rose gold chain and silver neck piece that seemed to be specially tailored. Altaria joined her trainer's side, slipping into the sliver neck piece easily. Elaine placed the smaller gemstone in the slot before fitting the larger stone into the chain, placing it around her neck.

With our new gifts, the two of us said our goodbyes to the Professor and his assistants. It was now time for us to travel to Laverre City, in time for our evening flight out to Sinnoh.
