But the numbers were nowhere near as high as they could have been if it weren't for my Roza and Mason, thank God. If it hadn't been for them everyone on this campus could have been slaughtered or turned. Which would have put the numbers HIGH in the quadruple digits instead. It would have been a yeblya blood bath, a yeblya massacre or a mass slaughter even. (fucking, fucking)

Aside from the killed there were also several guardians, moroi students, teachers, as well as a few novices. That had been taken by the strigoi who had fled from the academy just before day break.

One of those novices, that had been taken, was none other than Eddie Castile. And I knew, that if my Roza lost Eddie after already having lost Mason. That I might not ever get her back mentally or emotionally. Those two boys have been her big brothers basically all of her life, and she's already lost one of them. Which has caused some major pain, hurt, heartbreak and trauma for lyubov' moya to have to learn to deal with. And if she were to lose Eddie too, I don't know how long it would take her to overcome that as well. I knew that she would never really get over Mason's death. Or Eddie's if it occurred. Partly because she still, and most likely always will, blames herself and partly because he was her big brother. And I knew if anything happened to Eddie, she would feel at fault for that as well. Because she hadn't been right there by his side to protect him. Even though she was trying to protect everyone on campus at the time by fighting off the strigoi. And because he was also her big brother and she loved him just as much as she did Mason. (my love)

Thanks to my Roza, there was a rescue mission planned to get our people back. In that rescue mission some strange things had happened. Things that no one on campus knew about except for my Roza and I. At least not yet.

*FLASHBACK*

We had all been in the caves fighting for hours, we had found those that had been taken. And the ones that were still alive had been sent back to the academy, with all of the novices that we had brought with us, except for my Roza.

She was simply too good; we couldn't do this without her, and all of the guardians knew that. They didn't all like it, ad none of us liked it especially since she was still technically a novice. But we all knew it for an absolute fact that without her we were all as good as dead or turned. (hell)

Thanks to the number of strigoi that Roza and I had killed we had managed to clear out the caves. And there had been a little over a hundred and fifty strigoi that were still in those caves. Roza and I together got almost half of them by ourselves.

As everyone was leaving the caves Roza and I were the bringing up the rear when Roza froze.

"Dimitri."

I knew what that tone of voice meant.

"How many?"

"Just two."

Roza and I looked up to the opening of the cave, where Alberta Petrova, Janine Hathaway and Stan Alto all stood waiting for us. Just when their faces showed that they knew what was going on I felt an arm reach around my neck.

I heard my Roza gasp as another strigoi grabbed her. The strigoi pulled both Roza and I further back into the cave. And as they did, I could hear Janine, Alberta and Stan start screaming for us. When we saw them start to come back into the caves my Roza screamed for them not to and to go back to the academy. Thankfully, they obeyed her command.

"It seems as though we have accomplished our mission after all Rebekah." Said the blonde male strigoi who had me to the auburn haired  strigoi female who held my Roza.
