"I'm not going to lie to you, Gianna," the therapist says from across from her.

"I don't pay you to," Gianna sassed as she sits back on the couch, making herself comfortable.

The therapist sighs before looking back at her. "The life you had...the things you had to see and endure...I️ want you to know that they were not normal situations. You should've never been in them in the first place," she informs her. "I️ know your father even tried sending you away to make sure your had some semblance of a normal childhood but let's face it, it was never gonna be completely normal."

Gianna slowly blinked at the realization. She quietly processed the information as her therapist kept talking. "From everything you've experienced I️ would say you are definitely suffering from anxiety, depression and PTSD," she diagnosed. "And from the sound of your relationship with Alejandro...possibly even Stockholm Syndrome," she says.

"Stockholm Syndrome?" Gianna repeats. "So what? Anything I️ felt for him was fake?" She whispered.

"It was just a survival tactic. A coping mechanism," the therapist explained to her. "He was the nicer one out of the two that kidnapped you so of course you felt a bond with him in a time where you were isolated and scared."

Gianna didn't know what or how to feel. "Okay..." she accepts the answer. For now at least.

"It's a lot to take in. Don't feel rushed to process this," her therapist reassured. "Just know that, all of this is gonna take some time to process. Your father has put you in some dangerous situations because of his role."

"But I️ still love him," she sadly replies. "I️-I️ feel like I️ should be happy. Relieved even that he's gone but all I️ feel is...despair," she expressed.

"Because your father, despite his flaws, was always thinking of you. It's obvious he loves you very much if he went through it such lengths to keep you out of this world. He even came to get you himself on the day he died. You know this. You feel this," she says. "And that is completely ok that you still love him because...he died loving you."

Gianna and Dante sat on either side of their mother, who was crying her eyes out. Gianna had never seen her mom in such distress. She was usually very calm and level headed compared to their dad's irrationality and hot temper but that's what made them work.

But now her mom lost her other half. Gianna wondered how she would recover. Now that she was in therapy herself, she was determined not to let her mother slip into the same depression that Gianna fell into. It was a good place to be in and she already lost one parent.

She didn't need to lose another. Not now.

Her dad's right hand man and her godfather, Lorenzo, stepped up to the stage to give a wonderful eulogy about her father.

But Gianna couldn't really focus.
She didn't even want to be there.

But she knew she couldn't be alone at a time like this or else her mind would go into some really dark places.

After the funeral, they all went back to the family home for the wake. Gianna was getting tired of answering questions about how she was doing, as if it wasn't obvious, and was over everyone's act.

She knew her father made a ton of enemies, even among the so called friends he had here. A couple of them at the funeral were probably even happy that he was dead. The only thing they were sad about was the fact that they didn't kill him themselves.

Gianna sighed after the last person said their condolences and she walked off to head into her bedroom's balcony to get a moment of peace.

She breathed a sigh of relief, back against the the door when she heard a voice say, "Don't freak out."

She gasped in surprise when she looked up to see Alex walking out of her bathroom. "Alex? How the hell did you get in here?" She asked him, walking up to him slowly.

"Pretended to be a waiter," he simply shrugged. "You guys should really upgrade the security in here," he joked as he faced her now. She just gave him a sad smile. "How are you?" He asked.

Gigi shrugged. "Processing," she says quietly. "I'm in therapy now," she tells him softly.

"Good," Alex reaches out to hold her face but she takes a step back. "Right...sorry."

"It's not you it's just..." she speaks up, "Alex I️ don't know if what we feel for each other is real," she tells him. Alex was quiet as he processed Gianna's words. "I've been through so much that I️ can't even trust myself at this point," she speaks. "All I️ know is...what you did to me was fucked up," she says.

Alex slowly nods at her words. "Alright, that's fair," he swallows. "Gianna I️ came here today because I️ wanted to tell you that I'm going into WITSEC," he tells her, making her look up at him.

"Witness protection?" She states in disbelief. "Why?"

"When I️ got to the US, I️ was detained pretty much immediately but I️ turned informant and told them everything about my dad's cartel," he informs her. "It led to the arrest of pretty much the entire cartel."

"Alex..." she gasped. To bring down an entire operation like that was risky. There would always be a couple of loose ends or vengeful children out there in the world. You would have to look over your shoulder for your entire life just to make sure you'd reach the end of it naturally, and not by a bullet to the face.

"I️ just...I️ know you said you're not sure about what we felt between us is real but G," he breathes out, "to me at least, it was real."

Gianna pouts as he comes closer and holds her face in her hands. "I'm going off the grid for a couple of months, you won't be able to find me," he whispers. "And I wouldn't want you to. So can I️ kiss you one last time, so I️ can have it with me always since I️ can't have you?" He asked.

Gianna silently nods, tilting her head up to meet his lips in the middle. The last kiss had to be a good one, and boy, was it a good one.

Alex pulls her closer and tighter, pressing his lips against her with full force, wanting to seat the last memory of this kiss into her brain in hopes that she'll always remember it, like he knows he will. Gianna moaned lightly in his mouth as she wrapped her arm around his. His hands fell lower and lower until suddenly she pulls away, both of them breathing hard. Alex pulls her back for one more soft kiss before pressing his forehead against hers. "Goodbye Gianna," he whispers, pulling away and walking towards the door.

Gianna's head was spinning with emotions as Alex walked out of the door and her life for good. One day, she'll figure out if what they had was real.

But today wasn't that day.
