So this is the second part of  chapter one. Enjoy!!

****************************
The booming sound of music that played on the radio, filled the atmosphere as they drove on the highway.
They passed many high arise buildings each of them taller than the other.

Shali stopped at a red light, and finally removed her hands from the steering wheel.

She took a look at the environment, people passing each other, horns of cars encompassed the city, sights of large, breathtaking buildings dominated the area.

The scent of nail polish that obstructed the air made her look at Tara, as she was filing and polishing her long trimmed nails.

"For God sake Tara can't you do that in the office you know I hate the smell of nail polish."

"Sorry na I'm almost done"

"That's what you have been saying for the past ten minutes" Shali complained.

  "Sorry na" Tara stressed.
"Wahala for person weh get car"
Tara muttered.

"Wetin you talk" Shali asked when Tara muttered.

"Nothing"

"As if you don't have money to buy your own you just like staying close to me"

"Eh thank you for rubbing in it on my face" Tara said sarcastically.

"You're welcome" Shali grinned.

Seconds later she was done and
Shali was able to breathe fresh air again.
The traffic light turned green and other vehicles as well as hers started to move.

"Have you heard of the scandal about the Governor who was caught in a hotel trying to rape a young actress"

"Well I didn't really know about it" Shali responded, unaware of what Tara was talked about.

"Well I'm not surprised anymore its as if you live in a well?" Tara muttered.

"I heard that" Shali said in a matter of fact.

"Anyways," Tara continued. "You should have known this, everyone at the firm is talking about it. In fact our law firm is on this case the managing partner will be having a meeting today concerning who will handle the case."

"Its so obvious who will take the case so...wait you're in the burglary department, how do you know so much about this?"

"Babe, news travels fast and yes if Emma takes the case she won't carry everything on her head."

The red light turned green and then the road was busy again.

"What if the partners gives you the case? You're one of the top lawyers at the criminal department after all, also, if you work with Emma, there's a possibility that you can get a promotion this time isn't that what you wanted"

"Well thanks for the compliment but I'll rather be busy with paperwork than be involved in a case with Emma "

"And speaking of her, did I tell why I was so angry yesterday"
"It was because of her!" Taraola said.

Shali remembered yesterday she met Tara at the parking lot where she always waited for Shali after work only to meet Tara fuming with rage her face completely red. Shali could almost see the smokes coming out from her ear. But Tara didn't tell her anything and Shali didn't confront her she has learnt from their six years of friendship that no one dares talk to Taraola Williams when she is angry.

"What happened?" Shali asked joining the vehicles that has lined up In front of the law firm.

"Yesterday I was having a meeting with my superior, when that brat barged into the office like a mad person.
She saw that we were clearly having a meeting but she didn't care if she was interrupting."

"And then what?"

"And then she folded her arms and told the chief "I need to talk to you," Tara mimicked.

"So did you walk away?" Shali  asked but knew Tara's response.

"Of course not!, I didn't move an inch until my superior sent me out. I was so furious I wanted to handle that girl yesterday if not for my superior that was there I would have-"

The horn of a car behind them cut her off as Shali realised were she was and that other vehicles has started moving. She inserted the key to the ignition and the car roared to life. But to Shalewa surprise,Tara got up and looked over the window to the car horner.

"Hey! You better stop blaring that horn or else I'll come there and break it you impatient nincompoop!"

"Tara!" Shali yelled dragging her back to the chair.

"What?"

Shalewa stepped on the accelerator and the car started moving after giving Tara a look that a mother expresses when her daughter has done something very wrong.

"That actually eased my anger." Tara said innocently." I only hope that's not a person I know" She hoped but there was no sign of sentiment in her words.

Tara might be an independent woman but she has other well known characters. She is provoking, complicated and sometimes annoying. But Shali loves her anyway.

People compare Shali and Tara and wonder how they both became friends.

Shalewa is kind, friendly, patient, calm and an introvert.
Shali hates the social media because they don't always mind their business.
Tara is a social guru. If she hasn't gone on instagram in a day something must have happened to her.

Shali breathed in as a gush of air brushed her face after she matched the breaks and got out of the car.

She grabbed her black leather bag which has an embedded flower at the side, from the back door Tara grabbing hers as well the only difference the bag had was its color which was brown.

They both closed the door searching their bags for any missed items.
Finished, they moved out of the parking lot to the entrance of one of the most biggest and richest law firms in Nigeria.

Tara looked at her wrist watch to check the time and was surprised at the result.

"Shali its past eight!"

"What!"

Both of them began to run.

Tara held her phone in her left hand her bag on her right as her black heels clicked on the cemented floor the breeze blew making her white gown flow in the air.

Shali trailed after Tara.
Her white long sleeve shirt tucked in her black straight skirt that hugged her hips. Her flat shoes making little sounds on the floor.

"Wait for me na" Shali yelled at Tara who ran to the door of the firm.
