Write a story entitled, 'The Challenge'.
The vanquished sun was nowhere to be found, probably hiding behind the tumultuous, black clouds. Thunder grumbled loudly in the silence of the night, accompanied by strong winds, indicating an impending rainstorm. The lightning lit the sky in bright flame, showing the grief and anger of the sky. The coldness was like a curse from the enchantress, so cold and harsh that it froze every part of my body.
I was given a challenge, a dare, to enter the treacherous road which was blocked for as long as anyone knows. All the preposterous rumours permeated the surroundings when a boy was killed at the same road, badly slashed by the claws of a beast. Many say that the ghost of the boy still lives there, waiting for another companion, others say that it's just a ludicrous story told to keep people away from the damaged road.
Feigning obliviousness, I entered the road which was now pitch black with no source of light. The sprinkling of the rain has turned into a torrential downpour as the rainwater racedtoward the ground more forcefully. A felling of foreboding aculmulated inside me as I took in a deep breath to calm myself down. Nearby a rawen let out a high pitched wail, as if warning me about the menacing conundrum I am going to discover. I ignoreed all the instict which forced me to run away from the pain I am about to endure and instead fantasized about the things I am going to do with the money I will get to complete the challenge.
The road was fully dilapidated. There were cracks on the pavement and the buildings nearby by were lifeless. One or two emaciated trees stood tall nearby, there bracnches thin and weak, like fingers of witches.
"Run away." a sensible part of me sceamed inside me but the ludicrous, stupid part made me stay. A eldritch silence surrounded me and the only sound was the burbling of the win.
After several agonizing minutes, I fnally relaxed a bit, exhilaration of winning the challenge overcome the fear and I smilled at the image of my friends flummoxed face when I tell them that I survived the treacherous forest. But suddenly I stumbled and fall on the ground. "Stupid rock." I murmured but what I saw next send shivers down my spine. I was facing a large dog who drolled at the sight of me, letting out a loud growl. I quickly scrambled to stand up but the dog was quickly. He slashed my chest with his sharp claws and howled as I lay on the ground. I let out one last scream when the dog smilled at me and slit open my chest.
I should have listened to the rumors.
