Thalia

The world seemed to slow to a standstill.

All sound and colour drained from the scene until the only thing that stood out to me was Jason.

Jason.

My brother.

A murderer.

The idea didn't sit right in my stomach. The denial hit hard.

That's not Jason.

Jason isn't a murderer.

But now he is.

Reyna screeched and attacked Jason in a wild fury, slicing and slashing in the most un-Roman way. Tears streamed down her face like waterfalls and sobs cut between the breaks in her banshee cries.

Jason - a wide-eyed, fearing for his life Jason - could barely block Reyna's desperate, random attacks. Then suddenly Reyna got the upper hand. A particularly nasty stab in the thigh with her dagger sent Jason toppling to the ground. Suddenly she was stood over him, her sword raised, ready to slice off his head...

...when she just froze.

She wasn't screaming anymore. Just sobbing as she lofted the weapon in her shaking hands.

Reyna hesitated...

...and that's when Jason vanished.

He swept Reyna's leg with his own then scrambled to his good leg. Percy and Piper ran at him, but Jason snapped his fingers and a shadow soldier pulled him into darkness.

Once again, my brother was gone.

Only this time, I wasn't sure I wanted him back.

Possibly a trigger warning below.

If you have problems reading about suicidal thoughts or suicide, I don't recommend reading the below italics. It's not super explicit or gory, but I don't want to upset anyone.

Skip the parts in italics if you feel the need to. And please read the author's note at the end of the chapter even if you don't normally.

Piper

As I watched Jason fade into shadow, his voice echoed in my head.

"Please Piper. I need you."

I tried to shut out the memory of my dream, but for some reason the vision continued to play out in my head.

"How can I save you Jason?" I asked desperately.

"You can't," he answered.
