Gratitude

There is at least one thing you are grateful for in your life. I am going to take a leap and say there is more than one thing that you can express gratitude about, but for this exercise take one thing that you are thankful to have in your life. This can be a person, animal, the place you live, your job, the money in the bank, the fact that you have always been able to pay your bills, the clothes in your closet, the food in your fridge, your friends or maybe a really good friend, nature, your hands to pick things up, legs to walk. Maybe you have a most loved polka dot sweater or a stuffed animal that you cuddle with in bed, or just a sweet gesture from someone at work this week. Whatever you choose to be thankful for, picture it in your mind. Now while thinking about this person or thing that you are thankful to have, feel your thankfulness. Feel what it brings to you to have this thing or person in your life. Does it bring love, laughter, joy, safety, nourishment, and so forth. Possibly what you chose brings you more than one feeling. If that is true feel all of it. When we live in a state of gratefulness we move into heart living. We realize that not all is bad. This act of gratefulness will center you and open your eyes to more things to be grateful for and pull you out of a negative state quickly. All of us can do a better job of being grateful for people and things in our lives. Just the beauty of the Earth itself should be appreciated and thanked. Write below what you are going to be thankful for right now. Do the exercise of bringing the person or thing to your mind and then feel it in your heart.
