Sage's POV

I leaned further back into him as his fingers made small circles on my hip causing butterflies to erupt in my stomach. He buried his face in the crook of my neck as he peppered light kisses on my skin.

He's leaving

I wanted him to stay. It's selfish, I'm selfish but I don't want him to go. He'll move on, forget about me, he'll meet new people, I don't want him to. As selfish as it sounds I don't want other people to know him, know him the way I know him because they'll fall in love with him - the way I did.

I truly think our souls used to be one, as if we were torn from the same cloth - equals. Because I just know in my heart that I could never love someone the way I love him.

If only we had forever.

But we didn't. Time danced around us, it had always been a fragile little thing. Time was precious and we all wanted more, but some of us didn't really understand its value. Time knew no bounds simply because it didn't have to because it's the one thing we all wished for without realising.

I wish I hated him, maybe then this wouldn't hurt as much.

But I didn't hate him, and it hurt like a bitch. I knew this time when he left he would be taking my heart with him, he unintentionally consumed my being and left me in my most vulnerable state.

I felt his chin rest on my shoulder as he tapped the side of my head.

"What are you thinking so hard about?"

Don't cry Sage.

"I-"

Do. Not. Cry.

He turned me around to face him, his eyebrows scrunched as he looked at my face.

"What's wrong,"

I want you to stay.

I blinked the tears away and shook my head dismissing my feelings, but he wasn't having it.

"Sage."

A small, hollow smile painted its way on my face as I felt my heart slowly start to break all over again.

"We're running out of time."
