I Yearn For a Star

To Yearn
An Eager, Restless and Painful Longing!

Would the night sky mind,
If I but pluck just one star?
For what could a drop less mean to an ocean,
With infinite sand and water in motion?

So, I climbed the tallest tree,
And borrowed just one star,
Carefully, holding the crystal ball,
I gently climbed down and walked to my hall.

I found a quiet dark corner,
Where her last memory lay asleep,
I gently placed the star on satin,
Her sleeping memory quietly waking.

That was one happy night,
Many stories told and heard tonight,
We laughed, danced, sang, and cried,
The twinkling star and her parting memory,
All sang together as free, till reverie.

Then the sun rose,
The star quietly died,
Her memory wept,
Closed her eyes and slept,
It was one ethereal night,
Me, the star, and her memory.

Its night again,
I climb atop the tree again.
But, all I see is a dim & dark light,
I think the sky is sad all night,
It's one star short tonight.

I lay next to her sleeping memory all day,
And return here every night,
Hoping for a night full of stars,
To borrow just one star,
But, it's all dark now,
There aren't any stars above.

I lay awake,
Her memory sleeps,
The star-less sky weeps,
All longing to be longed for.

I lay awake, Her memory sleeps,The star-less sky weeps,All longing to be longed for
