Silhouette of My Sorrow

Walking alone in the dark,
I trampled on an old memory,
my knees bruised, palms hurt,
I brushed myself to look within.

Ah, who kept this here,
on my path to melancholy,
only yesterday, I had crossed this road,
and laughed till my eyes cried.

And now I can walk no more,
My heart hurts as knees,
crickets sing their lonely hymns,
inconsolable, my sore heart quivers.

Shhh, let the ethereal sun now rise,
Beneath horizons let it peek,
so my sorrows shall be warmed,
and I crawl back on my arms.
How I wish, panacea here for me.

As the light touched me,
golden hue enlightened me,
katydids slowly, quietly retreating,
I saw my silhouette next to me.

She was faint, the colour of May,
at my footsteps, she lay,
I opened my arms for light,
she too hugged me tight.

For long we both stood still,
as none would be first to speak,
'til she grew as tall as me,
and when the ineffable silence rose to seek,
thus she spoke to me...

"Who are you, my mortal friend,
What aides do you need to be?
For the seeds of your sorrow have borne fruit,
and in your laps, it now grows.

"The seasons you lived,
with the pain in its youth,
is no longer recognizable.
Now, your sorrow is old and fragile,
dying in solitude, far away in grief.

And the memories that wandered,
sketching heartbreaks on the ceilings;
wet eyes that kept you awake,
have decayed a decade back,
probably reborn in heart anew.

Grieve not, for what could have been,
blank pages in love with your ink,
are eagerly awaiting you in sync,
around the corner of the iridescent street....
where once you laughed,
where once you danced,
where once it all began,
and where it all shall retreat.

The sun now ephemeral,
shadows now light as night,
I scream my heart alight,
My ink is my blood,
and together we shall fight,
'til I own the night....
'til I own the night!

'til I own the night!
