Many people prefer to be the only partner you chose, date, sleep with, marry, etc. To them commitment is about being the only person that gets your affection and intimacy. To others commitment is about staying together, hoping it gets better and cherishing what the other brings to our lives.
Today, commitment is often lacking. It's quite dangerous out there. If you don't get commitment at first why is it not worth it to wait and give it some time? Can someone reject a commitment, or turn down the offer, reject the idea and still show love? We can ask someone to commit to our desires and our wants/needs and emotions. Remember a commitment is a lot to ask for.
