"Hey I'm thirsty over here!" I recognised the voice as Ace and closed my eyes before sighing, it was going to be a long ass shift.
"Sorry J, catch up later?"
"Sure. Sure." He told me before shuffling away awkwardly. I turned to the bar and grabbed the two bottles before placing them onto a tray. When I looked over to Ace he was glaring at me and I couldn't think for the life of me what I had done wrong. I was coming with his drinks, I'd just taken his food order what else could he possibly want?
I tried to walk as quickly as I could without knocking the beers over and placed the tray onto their table, smiling at them both. Diesel smiled back and uttered a quick thank you where as Ace didn't even look at me, only nodding.
"Can I get you anything else?" I asked.
"Nah." Ace bit out, still looking over the booth and out of the window.
"That's fine, just give me a call if you need anything. Your food should be ready shortly." I told them before walking back to the front of the diner.
As I sat on the stool at the front I couldn't work out as to why he was so hot and cold, nor could I work out why he was even here. I'm sure they had more important things to do than sit around a diner all day, I was here till ten o'clock tonight.
The bell rang again and I jumped up to see a large man wearing a biker jacket. He had a shaved head and tattoos covering half of his face. He had 'death' tattooed beneath his left eye, I didn't recognise him at all and I certainly don't remember seeing him at the clubhouse last night.
"Welcome to Mels!" I recited. "I am your server-"
"Ava." He interrupted, his eyes watching my hungrily. The bell rang again and three more men piled inside the diner, all wearing the same leather jacket. It was the first time I'd noticed their patches were different to the Inferno Kings ones and I began to sweat nervously.
"Is it a table for four today?" I questioned, trying my best to maintain a genuine smile.
"You could say that." He smirked. I'd dealt with Ace smirking all day and this one was considerably different, malicious even. Nonetheless I grabbed four menus and asked the men to follow me, I'd taken them to where I had first taken Ace and Diesel.
They slid into the booth effortlessly, crowding round the table as they all looked up at me expectantly. I handed them their menus and as they looked through it I began to twiddle with the bottom of my apron nervously.
"I'll be back to take your orders shortly, if there's anything you need in the meantime then don't hesitate to give me a shout." I rushed out before taking a mental note of the name of their patches. The Reckless Rebels.
I rushed back over to Ace and Diesel trying not to make it obvious that they were actually sat in the diner. "Diesel, Ace!" I hissed as I approached them. Diesel spun round to face me where as Ace looked up at me nonchalantly, completely uninterested in my presence.
"I think there's trouble." I told them, remembering of my brothers warning back in the hospital.
Ace looked at me his face showing concern, seeming very interested in what I had to say. "Why?" He asked, reaching inside of his leather jacket.
"There's some gentlemen that have just come into the diner." I explained, trying to stop my voice from shaking. "They already knew my name and they're sat in the corner. But don't make it obvious!" I hissed again when Diesel tried to rise out of the booth to get a better look, I pressed down onto his shoulder and forced him to sit down.
"How many of them?" Ace asked.
"Four and their patches say The Reckless Rebels." I told him.
"Shit!" He cursed. "Go get your staff and tell them to stay in the kitchen, things are gonna get ugly. Diesel call the guys we won't be able to do much in such a small diner."
Diesel nodded at his president pulling out his phone and dialling the clubhouse. Ace grabbed my hand and pulled me down so that we were eye level. "You stay out the way Ava, I don't want you to get hurt." His words made my breath get caught in the back of my throat and I was taken aback at the sudden emotion swirling in his green eyes.
"Now go." He let go of me and ushered me away from his table. I nearly ran towards the bar where Charlie was stood wiping it down.
"Charlie!" I nearly shouted, he looked up in alarm at the sound of my timid voice. "You need to get in the kitchen and tell the others to hide. I've been told things are going to get ugly."
He didn't say a word but moved towards the kitchen in a haste and I heard the deadbolt on the other side, locking me out. Thanks I thought and as I was thinking of somewhere to hide if things did get out of hand I noticed the family sat not too far away from Aces and Diesels table.
There was a young girl she looked about five and her blonde hair had been pulled into pigtails. I instantly thought of Tahlias and Gunners you get sister Rylee. What if she got hurt so instead of hiding I hovered beside their table, my eyes on the door.
It wasn't long until I heard the hum of an small army of Harleys and before I knew it about five kings walked in. Axel, Gunner, Mac, Milo and an older man I recognised from the dance floor last night. Their faces were grim as they acknowledged Ace and Diesel.
They spoke amongst themselves and as my brother moved I noticed the hilt of a gun beneath his leather jacket and my heart beat even faster. My chest began to grow tight and I recognised the feeling of another asthma attack.
I rushed over to where I'd hidden my bag and took out my inhaler. I took a few deep breaths, inhaling and exhaling when required before putting it away. Before I could get up from where I was crouched I felt something press into the back of my head, it was cold and hard.
"No sudden moves miss." A gruff voice spoke. "Now get up."
I did as I was told and when I rose to my feet a hand was wrapped around my neck and the gun was brought to the side of my head.
I was surrounded by Rebels and it didn't take long for my brother and Ace to notice.
Shit. This was bad, this was so very bad.
