"You know what." I told him. "Just forget it, I'll walk."
I stormed out the bar against his protests and out into the garage parking lot. I walked quickly past the line of motorbikes when I noticed Mac and Milo in an intense discussion. I lowered my head silently praying that they hadn't noticed.
I finally raised my head once I was away from the building and the distant shouts of men could no longer be heard. In my bag I rummaged for my phone and headphones, I longed to hear some music that calmed my soul. So scrolling through Spotify I picked a song that instantly calmed me, 'Paradise City' by Guns 'N' Roses.
The soothing sound of the guitar was already calming my raging heart and I began to hum to its melody as Axl Rose began to sing.
Take me down to the paradise city,
Where the grass is green and the girls are pretty.
Take me home, oh won't you please take me home.
It wasn't long before I realised that there was a Harley Davidson crawling along beside me. I pulled one of my earbuds from my ear and glared at the smirking male who hovered beside me. "What?" I snapped.
"You're going to be late." Ace told me matter of fact my, managing to keep up with me as I turned away and continued to walk off. I tried to secretly glance at my watch, I didn't want him to think that he was getting to me or that he was right even though deep down I had a feeling he was. It was already ten to two and the rest of the walk to the diner was at least twenty minutes.
I stopped and threw my arms up into the air, my eyes burning with frustrated tears. I'd kept such a clean record of never being late and had been employee of the month for the last five months, I didn't want to tarnish my good reputation after one night spent in the clubhouse.
"Come on." He called, braking to a stop beside me. "Get on."
I sighed before begrudgingly putting an earbud back into my ear and taking the helmet he'd magically pulled out of thin air and offering me. I put it onto my hair, already imaging the state of it once I'd got to work, and clipped it into place. It was struggle getting onto the back of it without flashing ace and anyone who had walked pace, throwing cautious glances at the well known biker.
I placed my hands onto the metal behind me hoping that it would be enough to keep me safe. "I'd hold onto me if I were you." He told me as the engine roared back to life.
I rolled my eyes, a whisper of doubt echoing through out my mind and actually wrapping my hands around his waist. I yelped as we sped off and pressed my face against his leather covered back, trying to ignore the fact that I could feel his abs through his thin t shirt.
We didn't talk through out the short journey and when I could finally see Mels on the corner of the street I nearly cried with relief. I just wanted to get off of this death machine and escape this even bigger death machine. He halted to a stop just outside, all of the people sat inside of the diner turned to look at the sudden ruckus but quickly resumed their meals and conversation at the sight of Ace.
I glanced down at my watch it two fifty-five and I rushed to pull the helmet from my head, not caring about my dignity I jumped off of the bike with my bag in tow. "Thank you!" I sang to him before racing into the diner.
My boss, Charlie, was already waiting for me at the front desk with my apron held out ready for me. "Oh thank you so much!" I thanked, accepting the apron from him and putting it on.
