Kiba Inuzuka’s car was parked outside of [Name]’s home at this exact moment. He was anxious, that was the only emotion he could identify because his emotions were conflicting and crashing against one another. Thoughts of a possible future went through his head, over and over again. One thought was above all the others though, and this thought made him smile, [Name]’s pregnant and there was a chance that he could be the father.

An unintentional smile curled the corners of his mouth up and he nervously ran his shaky hand through his already messy brown hair. He let out a sigh that he had probably been holding in since yesterday as his onyx eyes trailed to look at [Name]’s door for the nth time since arriving and parking on the curb across from her house, which was forty-five, agonizingly slow, minutes ago.

Thing was, he wasn’t nervous over the possibility of being a father, no, he was nervous because there was a high chance that [Name] would even answer the door for him. All the other times he had visited, before he found out the news, were all failed attempts.

Finally, he turned and reached over to grab the bouquet of a dozen red roses that he had bought her before coming there; he brought them to his nose and sniffed them before forcing a smile and then reaching over for the handle on his car door.

When he stepped out of his car and shut the door, his hands automatically went to smooth out the wrinkles on his clothes. He was wearing a nice, black button up dress shirt, the first two buttons undone. He decided to keep it more simple, like he wasn’t trying too hard to impress her, by wearing dark jeans. He exhaled slowly and looked at his reflection in the driver’s window. After threading his fingers through his messy locks one last time, he straightened his wavering resolve and decided it was now or never.

His strides to [Name]’s door were long and quick, and when he finally reached the oak door to her home he only hesitated a split second before knocking. His stomach twisted into anxious knots as he waited, when his attention was brought to [Name] peeking through the small glass window on the door a smile was sent her way.

[Name]’s [e/c] eyes widened in surprise as soon as she seen him and she held her breath as she turned and leaned her back against the back of the door. She did not want to talk to him. Wait... Please God, don’t let him know, she prayed before she reluctantly, unwillingly, turned back around and unlocked and opened the door for him.

She didn’t even try to smile in return at him; her face was void of any emotion as she asked, “Why are you here, Kiba?”

He smiled sheepishly and nervously scratched at the back of his head, “I need to talk to you. It’s important.” When she didn’t object he took it as a sign that it was okay, “These are for you.” He pushed the bouquet of roses toward her; she hesitated but finally grabbed them and then stepped aside to let him inside.

Kiba walked in and watched her as she laid his bouquet on a table and then she took a seat on her leather sofa. She sighed, “Well, what is it?” Her eyes bore into him and he quickly wiped his sweaty palms on his jeans before he walked over and sat on the farthest side of the sofa from her.

His lips moved but no words slipped passed them, he inhaled and let his words flow out his mouth in one breath. “I know about the pregnancy [Name]. Is it mine?”

His shocking words had her holding her breath momentarily. How did he know? “How-?” She couldn’t voice her question; she could just stare hard at him.

His onyx hues strayed to the floor before he answered her, “How do I know? Well, I don’t really want to tell you how.” She wanted to intercede but he stopped her from doing so, “Is it mine?” He asked again.

Her hand unthinkingly gripped hard at the leather arm she was resting it on. She inhaled deeply before answering him, “I-I don’t know. I have to go back and get a test done to find out.”

“I see… So, the child could be mine or Naruto’s.” He grimaced and his eyes averted to the floor once again.

                [Name] looked down ashamedly, “Yeah.”

                “Does he know?”

                “Not yet.”

Kiba glanced back at her, his heart palpitating harshly behind his chest; he wiped his sweaty hands, again, on the legs of his jeans. He nodded his head and breathed in. Breathed out. “I know that we’ve got ourselves into a messy situation,” he formed his words differently when she glared at him for his choice of words, “Excuse me, I have got you into a messy situation. I want you to know... that I’m sorry, I mean it. I never meant to hurt you, I should have backed off when I knew you were dating Naruto, but I didn’t. And as big as a douche this is going to make me sound like, I don’t regret it. I fell in love with you, [Name], and I won’t apologize for that.”

Her eyes, that were once glaring at him, were now watery and holding back tears as she looked down at her lap. Kiba continued on, “I do love you, and I want you to know, that if the baby turns out to be mine, I will take responsibility. If the baby is mine, then I’ll marry you and I’ll take care of you both.”

Her eyes jerked to him and a few tears fell from her eyes, she wanted to sob. Her thoughts at this revealation made her feel as if she were a horrible person, and maybe she was. She choked back an almost escaping sob and her voice came out low and trembling, “I d-don’t want you to…”

                “What…?”

She cleared her throat with a short cough and talked a little louder, “I don’t want you to take responsibility, Kiba… If the baby turns out to be yours, it still won’t change the fact that I still love Naruto, I always will.”

Uncontrollable anger seized him and it caused him to abruptly stand up from his seat and stare at her with unbelieving eyes, she watched him.

                “…Are you serious?”

                “Yes.”

Her answer had him riveting, his anger got the best of him and without another word he stormed over to the door and reached for the handle, but before he opened the door to leave, he turned back around grabbed the bouquet he had just brought her and threw it harshly on to the floor. He wanted to punch a wall, or something, but instead he opted for killing the poor flowers before he stormed out of her home.

                He had to think.

He couldn’t give up on her if she was carrying his baby.

                He’d be back.

As soon as the door closed and Kiba was out of sight, [Name]’s eyes finally let loose the many tears she had been holding back and her knuckles were turning white from her hard grip on the armrest of the couch. She knew that the calm before the storm had passed a long time ago, and that she had to talk to Naruto before Kiba got to him.

She just prayed that Naruto would talk to her, and selfishly, she hoped he hadn’t already moved on from loving her.
