Chapter 24 - A Certain Scienific Coilgun

Mara took some deep breaths, she clenched her fist. But she suddenly heard someone catch up to her and she swung her baseball bat. It was Kenichi who caught the swung bat's end with his good hand.

"There you are!" Kenichi shouts. Mara pulled the bat away. And Kenichi suddenly hugged her. "I was worried, I thought you'd disappear."

Mara pushed Kenichi off and looked away, "I'm fine."

"Thank goodness what a relief." Masato said, approaching the two with Yosuke.

"What are you doing here?" Mara asks puzzled.

"I was concerned for all your safety that was all." Masato confirms scratching his head.

"Well alright then beat it!" Kenichi saids crossings are arms.

"Mara I know you wanted to make sure these two don't know but it seems we have no choice I believe we still need there help for the final plan." Masato saids puzzling Kenichi and Yosuke.

"What!? Kenichi shouts and look back at Mara who rolled her eyes.

"The last step is easy we don't need them anymore!" Mara said annoyed. "We got Xiaodan so who cares now!"

"What?!" Kenichi screams out. "WHAT THE EFFING HELL IS GOING ON?!!!"

"Fine! Whatever I'll tell them." Mara look at the two, "Where creating a hero."

"A hero?" Yosuke asked puzzled.

"You two don't really think we can save a bunch of kids and this city, everything we've done until now has been nothing but a skill-out fight. We could never take on the chairman and board of dictators of Academy City. The illegal jobs we took part in can only get us this far. But then a former teacher of my school Masato Jun'ichi has made a call. I couldn't believe it was really him and met him in person. And he's going to change the world for everyone by creating the real protagonist!"

"Well I wouldn't say this project character is that of heroic but I do like such idea as an hero." Masato explains. "This hero is that of someone that will change the tragedies that came to past, "So many long children turned into human weapons that's why this hero made from the power of troubling hurt espers come together with the power of these materials will be the light this city needs."

"Materials? Yosuke questioned.

"That's right there's a Nonexistent Metal rumored metal which doesn't exist naturally in the world, rumor has it that when hundreds of esper abilities clash. The metal is created which doesn't naturally exist. Shadow metal. Since child errors where never considered Talent espers that is why you where all task on collecting those type of gifted espers to take part in my experiments. That normally was it for basically your roles in this job."

"But couldn't you have done this in a non violent matter with the daihaseisai festival! Wouldn't have been easier?" Yosuke asked.

"That could have been a solution but well that was impossible as the chairman of Academy was probably aware of these results and information was leak about such a theory creating a urban legend. Not only that wouldn't you think that the daihaseisai festival played a key role in obtaining and collecting shadow metal. Not only that wouldn't have been a safe option, but would be present as impossible as the chairman could easily collect whatever shadow metal is created."
