We love because he first loved us. He's always loved us and always will. If he didn't love us then there would be no love on this earth.
Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is for fear of punishment, and this shows that we have not fully experienced his perfect love. We love each other because he loved us first. If someone says, "I love God," but hates a fellow believer, that person is a liar; for if we don't love people we can see, how can we love God, whom we cannot see? And he has given us this command: Those who love God must also love their fellow believers. (1 John 4:18-21 NLT)
This verse is basically telling us that you can't love God but hate other people. If you hate someone that you can see right in front of you then how would you ever be able to love God who you can't see right in front of you. If youre afraid of someone loving you then you obviously haven't experienced God's love. Once you feel his love you love others and you accept other love for you.
