Poem

Two parents trying to compare
T

heir children is just not fair
Making them feel inferior
Maybe even jealous of the other
Rather than being friends or siblings
This comparison destroys bondings
Tears make way out of their eyes
As their heart with sadness cries
Totally lost in their despair
As if living a nightmare
Crawling towards dreaded darkness
Comparison may create such a mess.

A mythological short story from the Indian

Epic: Mahabharata.

Mahabharat is the epic war and it is saud that it nearly ended half of India's population at that time. There were many reasons for the war... But one of the reasons was also jealousy... The comparison started between him and the Pandavas from a very long time.

Duryodhana's hatred for the Pandavas stemmed from his sincere belief that he being the son of the eldest brother and should be heir apparent to the throne of Hastinapura. Because of his blindness, his father had to renounce the throne in favour of the younger brother, Pandu...

Also, when the brothers were given a chance to display their skills after they had completed their education, Arjuna displayed superhuman skill with his weapons and this earned the wonder and admiration of the whole crowd assembled in the ground. This scene made Duryodhana envious and hateful towards Arjuna.

This shows how comparison can result into jealousy and how it can even lead to an epic war...
