In 1918, a young boy purchased a doll for his two-year-old sister named Okiku. Tragically, the young girl passed away due to an illness and since her passing it is said that the doll had it's hair start growing as if it were alive.

It is said that the soul of the girl haunts the doll due to the fact that she was so close to it during the time of her fatal illness and that owning the doll has some very serious consequences.

The doll now resides at the Mannenji Temple and it has remained there since 1938. The doll regularly has it's hair cut and its said that the hair still continues to grow to this day. After further examination, the hair is found to be real human hair.
