Japanese Urban Legends

Jinmenken

Jinmenken, translated into "Human-Faced Dog", are said to be dogs with human faces that are said to appear at night in Japanese urban areas. 

They are rumored to be able to run along highways at extremely unnatural speeds, which allows them to overtake cars and look at the drivers with their human faces. Jinmenken are also said to be able to speak but prefer not to. 

In some stories, individuals may encounter a dog rummaging through their garbage only for the dog to look up and reveal their human face and say something along the lines of, "Go away!" or "Leave me alone!". This is said to almost be comedic, or funny. 

Explanations for these creatures are said to be due to genetic experiments, or that they are ghosts of humans who were struck by a car while walking their dog. 

{ If I saw one of these creatures, it would surely traumatize me in one way or another. Out of both explanations, I would honestly believe the genetic experiments more than the other. I mean, honestly, who really knows what people are up to? Especially if it includes the government or someone high up on a hierarchy. Yes, I enjoy conspiracy theories just as much as the next person.
