Chapter 1: Husband and Wife

Start from the beginning

The man was the master of the estate.
He was also the head over the duchy of Kargaz in the North. The most rumored member of the royal family; who was said to be the most dazzling and gorgeous man in the entire Kingdom of Hartize, the most unscrupulous of them all with too many mistresses to warm his bed - the fiery one - the mighty ruler of North, His Grace The Duke of Kargaz, Calex Hexon Tygart.

Atallie almost couldn't stop herself from rolling her eyes at how ridiculous it sounded when the duke uttered those seemingly commanding words.

"Are they really?" Atallie blurted nonchalantly. She just couldn't help bu  blurt.

Duke Calex slightly stiffened at Atallie's words. He couldn't help but spare a few but much more inquisitive and penetrating gaze towards Atallie.

This woman is not simple.

Atallie clearly felt the burning gaze of the man in question beside her. However, she remained as calm and collected as always from the very beginning.

"Can we move on now?" Wanting to quickly get off from the blinding and heavily decorated gown, Atallie couldn't help but sound so disinterested in what was going on in front of her - she just couldn't be bothered by the seemingly warm welcome of the servants of the entire estate.

"Of course," Duke Calex said, his tone as gentle and warm as before. However, his eyes were now a bit frosty, and his smile was a bit stiff than his initial welcoming character.

He seemed to be having difficulty in grasping some things about his newly acquired wife.

It seemed that there was still a lot of work to be done for Duke Calex to figure out the identity of the new Madame of his estate.

Both of them continued to walk together with the servants in tow towards the main mansion.

Duke Calex squinted his glinting black eyes towards the main mansion. A mischievous smirk appeared on his handsome face. He still had a grand surprise for his wife.

Two well-built footmen opened the massive door, which was intricately decorated in gold and other precious stones.

What a lavish door...

Atallie sighed in her heart.

She started to picture her house at the outskirts of town and began to compare her outdated wooden door from the blindingly heavily decorated and absolutely expensive door in front of her eyes. But upon realizing that there was no sense to compare them at all, she dismissed all the distracting thoughts.

After all, in the first place, Atallie was merely entertaining such thoughts to relieve her from her current boredom.

However, her boredom flew out instantly the moment the massive door was opened.

"We greet, Her Grace the Duchess of Kargaz!" High-pitched and melodious voices of women echoed from the inside of the mansion.

Clothed in glamorous and colorful dresses, beautiful and pleasant to the eyes, more than a dozen women were orderly lined up in the hallway to welcome Atallie.

So the rumours turned out to be true...

Atallie casually looked towards the women in front of her but didn't utter a single word. Her face remained as impassive and cold as ever, and she appeared as calm and collected as usual.

Duke Calex couldn't help but think that Atallie was simply disinterested about everything that was happening around her right now.

Out of the blue, Duke Calex called out, "Janette"
