~ sink or swim part one ~

"it's worse than i thought."

"the blast took out everything."

"i can't believe your own brother would do this. he could killed leo and val—and you."

if you haven't guessed it by now, leo, big d, valerie and tasha were all standing in what used to be the lab. everything had fallen apart, only worrying the hispanic girl even more.

"my mission specialist desk. okay, this just got real. i'm gonna hurt douglas where he lives."

"you don't know where he lives," val murmured as leo began to walk to the elevator.

"you've got a point," he swiftly spun on his heels.

"look at their capsules. there's nothing left."

"even eddy's gone."

"yes!" tasha exclaimed. "yes, he will be missed."

"he was my best friend."

"i thought i was your best friend."

"no, it was him," donald admitted.

"what are we gonna do?"

"there's not much we can do. house isn't even ours anymore."

"speaking of which, the banks wants us out. i'll go gather what's left of our stuff."

"my dad said you guys could crash at ours until you get the house back," val informed, shoving her phone back in her pocket when the two adults sent a grateful nod her way.

after a moment of silence, leo spoke up as the elevator doors shut.

"all your hard work. millions of dollars' worth of equipment. gone."

"all this stuff can be replaced-"

"adam, bree and chase can't, so can we hurry this up and find them?"

"valerie-"

"i'm sorry, it's just, chase is like my brother, and adam can always make me smile no matter what-"

"we'll find bree," leo called out when she began to walk towards the lift.

"i'm gonna go home and get my dad, you guys can fit your stuff in our cars. every minute we waste is a minute douglas is closer to finding them. we can't—i won't let that happen, even if it's the last thing i do."
