Chapter 27

Kalil.

My heart compresses and breaks me into a thousand pieces. Everyone was right, everyone. But my heart couldn't bear the thought of leaving Saravi here, can't bear the thought of having to make that decision. I try with all my might not to look at her, because otherwise I would not resist this moment.

"Let's go," he said almost in a whisper as everyone prepared the horses and began to divide.

Basim places his hand on my shoulder and then gives orders for those who will go to the village and those who will join us to ride as fast as possible to the palace.

Saravi was standing on the heels of Basim's instructions, drying her tears that run down her beautiful face. Despite the conditions and the few comforts, her face was still as beautiful to look at.

I appraoched slowly as I took her hand. An act that disturbs her.

"Thank you," was all I could say,

A forced smile appeared at her mouth, the one that struggles to make me feel good despite her feelings, the one that tries to shout at me not to leave her, but I knew it was time top ut our Angkor before our needs.

"Give Hanna a big hug." Her face turns to torture and sadness right away. "And don't attribute my actions to my parents...they've had enough of a rebellious daughter."

"Soon you will give Hanna a hug and you can see your parents," I assured taking her face almost in supplication.

She feels so low.

"If...you find Nadia, please don't treat her badly," A crying groan comes from her as my body gets destabilize.

Why do I feel like saying goodbye? I thought.

"Don't say goodbye! I warned pulling her back. "Don't do it!"

"Sir, we have to go now!" Basim says wearily.

I took Saravi's face, and in a rapt and desperate way, kissed her. I kissed her as if I need her to continue, as if I need her strength to continue. I wanted to give her all of me. All of I could give.

Basim tears my hands from Saravi's touch, while she cleanses her eyes to start walking with the men. I was dragged by my feet and against my own will said a goodbye to Saravi with my eyes. With an unsaid promise and with my heart in her body.

We ride so much that I had a feeling that it wasn't only because of the time that passed by quick but also because of our adrenaline that was rushing in our veins. With me were at least 300 men, we passed through the center of Angkor inspecting that many of the rebels were reduced with the Saravi strategic plan. The disguise of the soldiers meddling with the people was a blow they did not expect.

We did not stay long, I ordered to take them all to the fortress, each group that we met would be arrested, if they surrendered, unfortunately for many they preferred to die before that.

I did not want to wait. The craving to reach was so strong that the way we were riding we could be there at the least in two hours at the palace, the ride was being hard and we knew we couldn't force our horses this much.

"We better stop for a few minutes, the horses need water." Basim's words create irritation in my body but I nodded in affirmation.

I watched how everyone performs the actions in a hurry, without any fatigue, but the case of Basim was not the same. He was bearing more wounds and hadn't gotten any sleep on the hard floor and coupled with not having adequate food or water was holding his body to another disadvantage.
