The school background:
This is a bit of a boarding school, similar to a summer camp and Hogwarts.
The kindergarteners and preschoolers do not stay overnight, only third grades and the grades above do.
What is means to stay overnight at the school is students stay for the week and then are free to go home to their homes.
7th graders and above can choose not to go back home as long as they have the parents signature.
Obviously go home for the holidays.
