Dru had the amazing oppurtiunity to interview WomanBehindWords.  She is the author of overnight, Buried and others.

Hello, I'm Dru from the Crazy Late Nighters Community who will be interviewing you today. What name/pen name and pronouns would you like to be used during the interview?

Hi Dru! You can call me Mimi and my pronoun is she/her.

Hi Mimi, nice to meet you. Let's start easy, shall we? How long have you been writing?

It's a pleasure to meet you too! I have been writing for less than a year on Wattpad but I'm writing stories and articles since at the age of 10, I guess.

Great! Why do you write?

Good question, but honestly I don't have an easy answer for it. I write because I want to disappear from this world for a few hours. Just go into some other world with my characters and forget that I have so many responsibilities in another world. It's a way for me to forget a sad day. Sorry that's a pretty long paragraph.

Nah, it's okay. And yeah I totally understand what you're saying. Life can be hard and frustrating.

Have you always wanted to become a writer?

Funnily enough, no. I have always wanted to do something with law and courts. But not a writer. The thought actually didn't cross my mind until this year. The thought that someone will read my stories, is very overwhelming and so inspiring. And now that there are some readers, the thought of becoming a writer isn't that bad. In fact, it's very promising.

It's okay, fate just works in mysterious ways. How do you deal with writer's block?

Nothing unusual, listening to music. Watching new movies. Also, I read true crime cases and take some inspiration from them for plot twists.

Wow, crime cases? That's awesome!! Tell me about your book. What was the journey like?

I'm not going to sugarcoat it but for my first book, the journey wasn't anything special. Low reads, no appreciation, and no acknowledgment but this is life. It took time, and I was disappointed, yes, but also it gave me more encouragement to write better. For my latest book though, I'm now not writing or updating for someone else, it's more for my own health than someone reading it or not.

I'm sorry you had to go through that. But like I said, life is mysterious, and now it brings me to you. Do you have an updating schedule or just update whenever you can? Why?

I update once a week. It seems more reasonable. It will create more suspense for the readers. And it also works with me.

I agree. Suspense really attracts readers. What is the significance of the title?

I have thought about a lot of names, but nothing seemed to be really meaningful. Then this word suddenly popped up, Buried.

Something hidden. And in my case the truth that is hidden. So sorry for the delay, my net was being a pain.

'The truth that is hidden', I like that. And it's okay, the internet here is kinda slow too. What is the most difficult thing you've encountered as a writer?

Apart from writer's block, accepting the fact that there will people who won't like your writing. And it was okay as long as it's constructive criticism I'm now okay with it. But in the beginning, it was hard to ratify that my writing won't be liked by all of them.

Hearing criticism and accepting it are two different things, but they help us grow to be better writers and maybe idols for other people. How do you deal with the emotional impact of a book (on yourself) as you are writing it?

I just block out the feelings. I don't try to indulge in the emotions my characters are facing. It was better that way. But I also make sure to try to write it in a way where the readers can feel the impacts.

Mmm, I try to do that, but everytime I do, I just fail miserably :(. Do any of the characters hold a special place in your heart? Why?

Yes, the character of Sofia will always be dear to me. While writing her, I have put a piece of me into her.

How do you name your characters? Do their names just pop into your head or do you think it over?

The name Sofia is inspired by that Disney Princess. Alexander 's name just popped in my head all of a sudden xD

Hmm. Are any of the characters based on people you know?

Yes, Sofia's best friend really resembles my real-life best friend, and the relationship between Sofia and her sister Katty was very much inspired by my relationship with my sibling. Although not entirely, yes a huge portion of my character 's mindset was inspired by my friends and family.

Wow, that's a lot. But inspirations can be found in the people closest to us. Does your book/s have a message that you want to convey to your readers?

Yes, I do try to tell my readers how a person can be independent without a proper income. I also try to convey how family relationships work. But besides that, I don't want my readers to put so much mind in it that they forget to enjoy the story.

Yes, I agree with your last statement. I think they'll get the message as they go along the story. Do you have a writing ritual before you start writing?

At first not really, but there are readers now who aren't just my friends and distant relatives, so I do have my own writing ritual.

Oh really? That sounds interesting. Who are the authors that you look up to?

Sorry for the late reply, I suddenly got busy.

I mainly look up to LittleMinx, miaamigo & CollateralSunshine. These books have really inspired me to write in some days where I didn't know what to write.

Wow... When you're not writing, what are you doing?

I'm a very boring person so when I am not writing, I would probably reading something and it could be anything or designing

I wouldn't call that boring, I mean I do that too when I'm not writing. What is your go-to quote/motto?

I don't know where I had learned from but just so I don't expect anything from people I go with "Human lacks humanity."

Wow, that's a really deep one. Favorite author(s) that you wish to be your mentor? Why?

TheBiblicalSinner (Oli) I really need to know the way he writes smut.

Interesting... If you were stuck on a deserted island with only three movies, what would they be?

La la land. Deadpool 2. Gone girl

Nice choices. If your book was made into a movie, who are the celebrity stars you want in it?

Maybe Sam Claflin and Emma Stone.

Wow, really talented people! Unfortunately, this is the end of the interview. Thank you for your time and sharing the experience! Is there anything you would like to do to your fans?

Thanks for your time :) And I really want to say to anyone who is reading my stories, that I owe you so so much and you have no idea how much I appreciate your support. :)
