JENNA FERNSBY WALKED INTO HER HOME FOR THE FIRST TIME TODAY, and could barely keep her eyes open. she and abby griffin spent seven hours putting a patients intestines back together, and they just finished a half hour ago. she spent countless hours on surgery, and she couldn't be happier to be home finally, even if it were the middle of the night. she closed the door behind her and set her pack on the stand beside her.

she sighed tiredly and made her way towards the hallway, where her bedroom was. but she stopped abruptly in her tracks when she saw crimson red blood spilling out from under the bathroom door. her heart surged with panic, and she didn't hesitate at all as she barged through the door, where she saw a sight she'd never forget.

her daughter may, laid unconscious with red liquid slowly oozing out of multiple cuts on both her wrists. horrified, jenna screamed as tears fell instantly. she panicked, and didn't know what to do, may's anemic, loosing too much blood would cost her life.

she bolted out of her house and into the dim lit empty hallways, no one in sight. she started to run down the hallway, where she suddenly bumped into a boy casually strolling down the way. "help me!" she cried,  her hands gripping on his shoulders.

the boys eyes bugged out instantly, fear struck his heart at the sudden interaction of this random woman. "p—please my daughters bleeding out in our h—house! my doors open just please help her while i get help! please!"

the boy nodded nervously, ushering her to go, "okay, okay, i will! go get help."

"thank you!" she cried, continuing to run as fast as she could down the hallways, whereas the boy went the opposite direction, to look for an open door. he didn't know what the hell he was doing, he had other plans but saving someone's daughter seemed too important.

when he found it he ran in, and saw blood in the houses hallway floor, where he knew to look instantly. he ran into the bathroom, and his heart beat increased, he had never seen such a sight before. he shook off his shocked feeling and kneeled down beside the girl, gently taking her into his arms.

the girl was going in and out of consciousness, and the boy noticed that almost immediately. he grabbed nearby bathroom towels and stuck them to her wrists, gripping them tight for pressure and to stop the bleeding.

the girl managed to move her head and look up, meeting contact with a blue eyed boy. he flashed a smile, "i'm murphy, you'll be okay."

she groaned weakly, feeling her throat so tight like never before, she was panicking, she felt as if she were drowning, or worse, buried alive. murphy shushed her, "hey hey hey, you're okay, you're alright. try not to move."

the dying girl couldn't speak, but tried to as hard as she could, before everything went black in her sight.

the blue eyed boy never left her side, and kept the pressure on her wrists until her mother and more help arrived. yet unfortunately, the girl didn't remember him, the boy who saved her life.

when the guard opened the door for jenna fernsby, she walked in quickly, seeing no one other than john murphy sitting on the other side of the glass. it was just days before the ark was gonna send the hundred prisoners to the ground, and her daughter was one of them. she had to do something to make sure she'd be okay.

"doctor fernsby." murphy said with a flat tone, waiting for jenna to sit down on the opposite side of the glass, "what brings you to give me this pleasant visit?"

jenna ignored his remark and sat down, making hard eye contact with him, "in the next three days, somethings gonna happen, to all you delinquents. i can't say what, you'll find out soon. but there's something i need you to do for me."

he thought for a second, before nodding, "carry on."

"you'll be seeing my daughter may soon when that something happens. and i need you to please watch out for her. i don't mean follow her around like a creep i mean just keep an eye out for her—keep her out of trouble."

murphy snorted, "alright so you want me to keep an eye out for her—fine." he leaned forward, a mischievous smirk tugging at his lips, "but what's in it for me?"

jenna rolled her eyes, she's done yearly check ups on john murphy before, and was familiar with how narcissistic he was, and kept on a hard exterior at all times. "when you turn eighteen and the council votes whether you float or not, i can voice my opinion to them all, i'm eligible to be next on the council seat, they'll listen to me."

murphy glared at her coldly, mentally thinking his ultimatum thoroughly. only it didn't take him long to decide, "alright, doctor fernsby, you have my approval. i'll protect your little princess."

"she nearly died, murphy." she snapped back, annoyed with his constant joking, "don't you get that? almost took her own life, i can't have that happen again. promise me, you'll watch out for her."

murphy looked at her with a blank stare before lowly nodding his head, guilt stinging his insides, "alright alright, you got it. i'll watch out for her."

jenna smirked in amusement, she vowed her dying husband she'd protect her daughter any way possible, and this was it, john murphy. maybe not as reliable, but good enough for her.
