FOR THE LAST COUPLE OF DAYS MAY FERNSBY HAD BEEN TIED UP IN WORK FOR HER PATIENTS. some residents of arkadia came in with symptoms of radiation sickness as well as a few grounders she had never met before, other than nyko.
she didn't know what to think of the new arrivals experiencing radiation sickness, all she knew was that she needed to treat them as best she could with the strict rationing raven put them all on.
may fernsby held up the little girl's head, tilting the cup of water at just the right angle for her to drink. she took a few sips, before she took her lips off of the edges, a clear signal she was finished. "good job." may complimented the young girl, "it's good to stay hydrated. you'll do just fine, i promise."
all the young girl could physically do was give a weak nod, before laying her head back down on the cot and shutting her eyes.
all may did was sigh in distress, she couldn't believe what she was seeing in front of her eyes. nini was the last sick child she treated, but this one seemed much worse, it was clear the radiation was getting to her immune system.
"hey there."
at the sound of a familiar voice, may turned around, to see it was krystal leaning against the wall, covered head to toe in her guards uniform.
may couldn't help but smile at the sight of her close friend, "hey!" she exclaimed enthusiastically, "i thought you were covering must guard duty shifts lately."
"it's my break." krystal replied, answering may's simple question, "happy birthday, by the way."
at what krystal had just said, may's eyes widened in surprise, "it—it's my birthday?"
krystal hummed in response, finding it a bit odd that may didn't know her own birthday, "yup. march 5th, right?"
may only chuckled in disbelief, and placed her weight onto one foot, "already? are you sure?"
the blonde chuckled at may's disbelief, she found it cute, "checked the calendar today for my new guard duty schedule. i remember way back at the dropship you mentioned it to me, since then i haven't forgotten it."
may crossed her arms, letting her mind dig deep at her brain. she had been so busy lately helping around arkadia to prepare for praimfaya she had completely forgotten that it was her birthday month. if it weren't for krystal, she would've totally gone past it without a thought.
