chapter 12

"Tyler..." caroline asked, her hands trembling and her body shaking. He had cheated on her. Caroline's crystal blue eyes filled with tears and as much as she tried caroline couldn't seem to blink them away, especially when Tyler separated from Hayley and held her hand.

"Caroline I'm so sorry." Tyler dropped the girl's hand went to caroline, holding her cheek roughly. Tears poured from her eyes as her teeth nibbled at her lip. Caroline came to her senses and slapped the cheating hybrid's hand away.

"Don't touch me." She barked at him, pushing against his chest to separate them. Tyler stumbles back and Hayley stood behind him lovingly. Anger bubbled to the surface as caroline screamed at him, "You lost the right to touch me when you laid your hands on her!" She spits the words with venom as she gripped her palms into tight balled fists.

"Caroline you know we were just a fling! We were horny and needed emotional help! It was nothing but physical! I didn't care and neither did you!" Tyler defended, coming closer to her and backing her against the wall.

"I loved you Tyler! God, I loved you! And you took that love and crushed it! You are a dirtbag manwhore!" Caroline shrieked, slapping his face and opening the door, "Go to hell Tyler." And she sped out of the room.

Caroline walked to the door of the house and collapsed outside. The minute her feet hit the pavement she crumbled into a ball and sobbed. Her head was flat between her knees and her hands gripped tightly around herself.

"Love," Klaus stated, walking out the door and stroking her golden tendrils. Caroline turned around, her walls collapsing around her. She faces his concerned blue eyes and brought her head onto his chest, sobbing as tears and snot sprayed from her.

"He cheated on me. You were right. He never loved me." Caroline gripped his shirt tightly, her death grip being met with Klaus's protective embrace.

Klaus wanted to rip off every organ in Tyler's body. He hated seeing such an angel in so much pain and agony. Klaus hugged the girl tighter and promised himself he would never let anyone hurt caroline again.

"You don't need him caroline. You are a strong and independent woman who is too good for him. You are so full of light and he doesn't deserve it. He deserves nothing." Klaus spoke in an angry but comforting voice as caroline raised her head to meet his eyes.

"I'm sorry Klaus," caroline started, staring into the man's eyes. "I shouldn't have broken the necklace, and I do want to be your friend. I'm just scared of being judged."

Klaus sighed and looked at the broken girl that sat in his lap, her eyes hollowed and empty. Klaus touched her cheek lovingly and lifted her bright eyes to match his dull ones.

"Love you have not one thing to apologize for. I too need to acquit myself for my previous statements and actions." Klaus spoke with sincerity as caroline looked at him vulnerably

"Please don't leave me." Caroline felt a fresh wave of tears and she could feel Klaus tense up at her crying face. Caroline couldn't handle another person leaving her life, not after she had just lost her friend and love.

"I wouldn't dream of it love," Klaus whispered into her ear in a comforting tone.

"Can we go somewhere? I need a change of scenery." Klaus knew he should have said no. Klaus has other plans and he had other things to do. He had hybrids to make and he wasn't going to let all of his devious plans go unfinished for some blonde girl.

"Of course Love, there's a whole world out there waiting for you. Great cities, and art, and music. Genuine beauty. And you could have all of it, all you have to do is ask." Klaus whispered to her. Something about the way her blue eyes begged him to agree, and so he did.

"Caroline?"
