"Oh, I thought you left with Patrick for the Easter break?" My aunt said as she saw me standing on the door.

She eyed Harvey and Archer and raised her eyebrows as if to ask me who they were as what they were doing here.

"They're my friends. And you already know Iris," I said "And, I wanted to tell you and mother something, that's why I came,"

"Archer Finch," he introduced himself with a nod "Pleasure to meet you, Mrs. Fletcher,"

"Hema Fletcher, I'm her aunt," she said

"Harvey Costa," he said

We got in and took seats on the sofa. Archer sat on my right, and Iris on my left, Harvey beside her.

"Where's mother?" I asked

"She's preparing drinks," she said, "So, why are you here with these people?"

These people?

That made me angry. As if Archer sensed it, he placed his hand on my back to calm me down. My aunt was shooting daggers on his arm and at him.

"Remove your hand off my daughter, Archer," my aunt said with authority in her voice.

He removed his hand immediately, with a hard expression on his face.

My mother came with drinks. She served us a glass and sat beside my aunt.

"Who are these boys, AJ?" She asked

"They're my friends," I said and introduced them

"Now come to the point, why are you here when you were supposed to be with Patrick? And how dare you bring boys to our home?" She asked with a glare

"Mother, they are my friends. Just like Iris. I'm sure you remember her," I spat

"Hey, calm down," Iris whispered clutching my arm

I saw Archer's hand twitch a little as if he wanted to touch me, but he refrained himself.

"Patrick lied to you because he wanted me to go on a road trip with these guys. He knew you wouldn't let me go if you knew. But I felt bad, and I wanted to tell you and ask you properly if I could go," I said

My mother's eyes went wide, and I can see the anger building in her eyes. I can practically see gears shifting in my aunt's head. Shit.

I didn't think about Rick. I don't even want to know what my aunt will do to him.

"He lied to us?" My aunt sneered

"Only because he wanted me to enjoy for once in my life!" I objected

"I don't care. Why would he lie for you? Weren't you enjoying your little life already? You are spoiling my nephew, AJ. You are grounded for the whole spring break, and you are not allowed to talk to Patrick!" My mother stated

"Mother, I know I made a mistake. But at least I am telling you. If I didn't tell you, you wouldn't even know. If I wanted, I could have gone with my friends, and you could've have believed I was with Rick. But I didn't," I rationalized, but from the look on her face, I can tell she was having none of it.

"I don't care, AJ. You are grounded, and that's final," she spat

"I'm sorry, Mrs. Fletcher, but you can't do that to her when she realized what she did. And she did nothing wrong to start with. I'm sorry, but if you didn't put so many rules on her, she wouldn't even think about doing this," Harvey said calmly

"And who are you to tell me how to raise my daughter? I can see how your mother has done the job," she sneered

"And that's a far better job than yours, Mrs. Fletcher. If you did a better job, our Arianna here," Iris wrapped a hand around my shoulder "wouldn't be so hesitant to share her thoughts, wants and wishes with you,"
