I Put My Sandals On .. Headed For The Bar

30 6 12

gave her my warm bed

I took the cold couch

dolly wasn't going to be happy

no chance .. neither would alline

so I moved alline in at my mom's

trying to put her off somehow

told her i'd be by to see her soon

mom took alline in with open arms

walked me outside to ask me

what the hell was I going to do

alline stepped out onto the front porch

I related to her she had to go home

she cried and cried .. I hurt too

deep inside .. no denying this

handed her cash for a bus ticket

hugged and kissed her goodbye

returned to my peaceful home

i'd asked mom if she'd drive her

to the bus station across town

later discovered they were at a bar

doing my best to keep alline and dolly apart

I failed miserably .. my telephone rang

later that same day everything fell apart

an anonymous caller said take caution

your mom, dolly and alline are all together

sooner or later

i'd to face the situation

dropped by the liquor store

asked johnny if he'd sack a six-pack

drove fast beside the levee to the river

my hideaway place I always go

when trying to sort my emotions

opened all six heineken bottles

fired up two joints of sinsimilla

cottonmouth began creeping in

finished the weed in record time

downed all six beers fast as I could

strolled through the nearby forest

trudged barefoot along the river's edge

I put my sandals on .. headed for the bar
