fast forward .. I was free to go
on my own recognizance
in time .. I completed
the insane charade
they'd setup for me
made it out of the courtroom
drove straight to the river
to celebrate my freedom
alone .. all of my brothers
lifelong friends .. all gone
now i'd to ponder
which houses i'd rented
still held large quantities
of the high grade cannabis sativa
I wanted no one to get their hands on
the house where I lived
was clean .. nothing there
just some of my belongings
it was a fine house indeed
great for living in .. perfect
I knew once i'd move
i'd miss this house
it holds special features
an entrance in the back
no one could ever see me
seven feet tall
dense .. leafy trees
line my rear driveway
far from the street curb
all the way to my backdoor
flashback .. on several occasions
in the last few weeks
i'd noticed metro narcotics
had taken a meaningful
special interest in me
though i'd a vintage truck
I really enjoyed walking
along the high levee
adjacent to the wild river
often i'd walk to the store
i'd went to get cold beer
minding my own business
darkness had just settled in
soon as i'd reached the store's entrance
unmarked cars rushed in .. lights blazing
plainclothes narcs screamed .. hands in the air
