finally driving back home to louisiana
I observed the girl still dancing wild
wiggling .. fading reflection in my mirror
i'm only two hundred miles off course
pretty damn good for doing 'shrooms
my head felt like a large balloon
filled with helium .. about to pop
foot all the way to the floorboard
my engine was roaring loud
i'd lost the muffler somewhere
didn't even think of looking anywhere for it
accelerator down .. hauled ass out of texas
crossed the louisiana state line .. late evening
pulled into an obviously abandoned rental house
sometime before midnight .. cloudy and raining
i'd called dolly just a few hours earlier
she seemed happy I was returning home
I knew i'd be happy to see her too
she climbed out of her window
walked down the levee to meet me
she brought blankets, sheets and pillows
we settled in for the night .. cuddled close
woke about noon .. walked down to the river
she related the hit was off .. now that she's home
I was surely happy to hear this
relaxed .. we lay back on the levee
enjoying a warm Indian Summer day
early autumn .. plenty of fish jumping
hotly we kissed .. made out right there
lazy day turned into afternoon
dolly soon had to return home
before her dad comes in from work
not long after dolly had left .. alline called
related she's running away .. taking a bus
next day arrived .. a knock on my door
rubbing my eyes .. trying to wake up
there alline stood .. smirk on her face
she said i'm not getting away that easy
I invited her in .. what else was I to do
