Beauty is the Beast Special Post #2

Today’s Topic: Summons

Hi everyone ^_^

Alright, first off, I’d like to say that reading up to chapter 26 of season 1 is necessary in order for you not to accidentally spoil anything for yourself, but most of you, if not all, are up to date. If you haven’t, then go no farther! *speaking in Wizard of Oz voice*

Okay! So I’ll start off with the main pack of eight that Hisayo first introduced back in chapter 23. I’ll begin with the oldest born first:

Ichiro: Not only was Ichiro born first, but he was the first one talked about first. Haha, must be nice for him. He’s the largest of the group with a dark grey coat of fur and crystal blue eyes. Like everyone out of this group of eight, he has a scar. I don’t think I’ve gone into detail about it, but it’s on his left cheek. As to how he got it; from battle like everyone else. He’s shown to be a bit nosey and mischievous; plotting with the rest of the pack in Hisayo’s ’favor’. ^_^ As the oldest and largest of the group, Ichiro is the one in charge and seconds Hisayo’s orders. He also makes decisions in her stead.

Tsugi is the second born out of the pack and one of two who were born with reddish colored fur and green eyes. You can tell her and the other apart the easiest if you look at their scars. Tsugi has a scar that starts from the right corner of her lower back, and travels down to her right hind leg and stops midway.

Next up is Eiji:  Like a few out of this group, he isn’t much talked about, but I will give you the necessary info on him. He is the third oldest, but is the second male born of the group.  He has dark brown fur and honey colored eyes. He has a long scar that runs from behind his left ear, down the side of his neck, and crosses over his chest. He got into an argument in Part 1 of Chapter 24 with Daigoro over whose scar was better.

Saburo has yet to say or do anything other than to help Hisayo whenever called upon. Like the majority of the pack, his fur is a brown color and he also has honey brown colored eyes. He has a large cross shaped scar on his left hind leg as well as one that is under his ribcage out of view.

Shiro is also an unspoken member of the pack with brown fur and has more of a yellowish color to his eyes. From the front of his right leg, across his chest, and up to his left shoulder is a scar.

Rokuko, as her name translates out to, is the sixth born into the pack. She is the second of the two wolves out of the pack that have reddish colored fur and green eyes. She has a scar that started at the top of her left shoulder, and curves down to just behind her leg and under her ribcage.

Nana, as said in Part 1 of Chapter 24, is the sassiest of the bunch with a scar that goes over the top of her muzzle. She has brown fur and honey brown colored eyes.

Finally, last but not least, is Daigoro. His fur is a darker colored brown than the rest who have brown colored fur, and his eyes are a solid brown. He has a scar that starts just below his right eye, and runs straight down his cheek, before curving under his jaw and stopping half-way down the side of his neck.

Alright, that’s it for the main eight. Let’s move forward to the second bunch of wolves: The Shadow Mergers!

This group of four is assumed to be well known and feared in the Ookami clan as many could not believe that Hisayo had control over such temperamental and untamable summons. Even Hisayo’s main eight were fearful of the four. And even Myukyu expressed deep concern when Hisayo had told him of possibly having to use them. All of them have black fur and red eyes, and they are described to stand seven feet tall. All four even have names that match with their dark theme.

Yuugure, Nightfall, was the first of the four to make himself known after being summoned. He has a deep godly voice and is the only one of the four without any kind of identification such as a collar or jewelry. It is further implied at just how dangerous he and the others are when he says that it had been such a long time since they had been summoned and even joked about the possible reason being because of what happened the last time they were summoned. As to just what it was he was talking about…we have yet to learn.

Akumu, Nightmare, seems to be the most unruly out of the group as Hisayo has to literally stare him down for dominance. She is always constantly pulling the reins on him. In fact, one might think that the black, spiked collar he wears around his neck is in reference to him always having to be put under control, well, at least somewhat under control. He has a very gruff voice that matches his action craving personality.

Next are the two females of the group, presumably twins as they finish the other’s sentence without flaw. They do, however, speak full sentences without the other cutting in. If anything, they add to what their sister has said. They have earrings on opposite ears to tell them apart, but just hearing the difference in their voices when they speak is enough to be able to tell the difference as one is soft, and the other is harsher.

The first of the two is Kurayami, or the absence of light. She is the one with the softer voice. The second is the harsher sounding Kurai. Her translation is similar to Kurayami’s, but is stated as having no light. Just something to further add to their sibling relation and how in sync they are in.

Next down the list (almost done btw) is Myukyu. This little guy is implied to be one of an unstated number of ‘messenger wolves’. He is, as you’ve read so far, the most used due to his small size and speed. If I had to give you a size ratio, I’d say he’s around the size of a forty pound border collie. He has honey colored fur and chocolate colored eyes, with a slightly deep and calm voice, despite his small stature. He’s usually very polite and respectful, but has a bit of a mischievous side as seen in part 1 of chapter 24.

There is one more wolf on the list for now, but he has only been mentioned. Myukyu thought Hisayo wanting to summon the Shadow Mergers was bad, but when she mentioned the possibility of having to summon Zenko as well, he basically went through a mental panic. Who is Zenko and why exactly is Myukyu seemingly fearful of him more so than the Mergers…only time will tell.

Last on the list is Karasu, Akio’s summon. I had stated way back in chapter 2, in a note at the end, that ravens were Native American totems. Kotetsu and Izumo even have a conversation about ravens and wolves that is very true, based on my readings of totems and ‘animal medicine’. While Karasu at first seems just like an ordinary raven, there is actually more to him. Karasu works in conjunction with Akio who literally sees from a bird’s point of view. While Karasu seems to only communicate using a Morse code, he can in fact speak, but as Hisayo stated in part 2 of chapter 24, it is usually when he gets overly excited. The only problem though, is that he speaks way too fast and it doesn’t help that he basically forms his sentences like Yoda from Star Wars.

So this is it for this second special post. Sorry it took so long for me to get this little bit out there for you all to read. Next special post will be about Weaponry, Tools, and Jutsu, so stay tuned and thanks for reading :D (EDIT: Weaponry, Tools, and Jutsu Post is now available to read.)
