Sophie POV:

"Everyone, brace yourselves!" Councillor Emery called to the crowd.

The scrolls that the Council sent to every elvin family told them to bring a bag of essentials per person and arrive in Atlantis by the night of the day after. But then the other planet picked up speed—or maybe they did—and now the crash was anticipated to happen tonight. Everyone had to hurry up and there was a huge crowd in Atlantis—like nothing anyone had ever seen before.

Everyone knew there were missing elves. Families missing children because they were in Foxfire, where they were when the urgent announcement went out. Elves who lived alone, and were overlooked. And, of course, everyone in Exile.

At least the Councillors had warned the other intelligent species.

The dwarves were currently digging deep trenches for the other intelligent species, not including ogres since they had dug their own.

Sophie couldn't imagine being above ground now, seeing the vast, looming, shape of Jupiter coming closer and closer.

She really hoped alicorns lived on that planet, not the frightful dragons Mr. Forkle had mentioned.

Wait. What if they were dragons? What if they attacked? Would Earth be destroyed? Would they be destroyed? Turned into food? Sophie shuddered at the thought. Being eaten by dragons was not on her list of ways to die. Not that she planned on dying any time soon.

"Hello, Miss Foster," said a voice behind her, and she jumped. Mr. Forkle—or, rather, Magnate Leto—was standing behind her, as if trying to hide. "How are you?" He said loudly, as if for the benefit of others. A few parents frowned at him, then sighed and edged away.

"Oh, thank goodness," he sighed when they were out of earshot. "I've had nosy parents following me around since I was spotted. There are only a few missing students. They were ones that were in other families properties when the urgent announcement was called, and they're missing now. Isn't Foxfire's fault," he grumbled.

"So I'm your excuse not to talk to any of them?" Sophie asked with a raised eyebrow.

"Well, technically, yes." He said, and she grinned. "But," he added, and Sophie frowned, "I was also talking with the Council, and they were worried about the possibility of . . . dragons . . . being in that Neptune planet." He said dragon hushed, as if it would stir panic if heard.

"Jupiter, first of all," Sophie corrected again with an eye roll, "and what did they say? That I should go in there and make a peace treaty with them?" Sophie said sarcastically.

The wan smile Mr. Forkle gave her was not reassuring. "That is exactly what they want you to do."

"No way!" Sandor said, and shoved Sophei behind him like Mr. Forkle was the threat. "They'd have to get through me if they're goign to send my charge into another planet to talk to—"

"Imps!" Mr. Forkle interrupted loudly.

Sandor frowned at him, then sighed. "You don't get a say in this, and I'm honestly not a fan of the plan either," Mr. Forkle finally said when attention was diverted from them. "Though Miss Foster will not be going alone."

"By 'not going alone' you better mean accompanied by me," Sandor huffed, although it sounded more like a squeak.

"And me," Flori added from Sophie's right.

"And me," said Bo in a bored voice, complete with an exaggerated eye roll.

"Ohh! And me!" another familiar voice announced, and soon an arm was draped around Sophie's shoulders. Keefe smirked at Mr. Forkle. "No leaving Lord Hunkyhair out of this, right?"

"What? Then I have to go?" whined Ro, who was sharpening her nails on a rock. "No way!" she said, mimicking Sandor, "and as much fun as it is to make Gigantor mad, I'm an also not a fan of sending my charge into another planet. So no, you are not going. Because I'm definitely not."

"Good to hear it," Bo muttered, and Ro shot him a death glare.

"And as I was saying, that's not up to you," Mr. Forkle said again. "The Council says that as small a group as possible, the better. And while bodyguards might be useful, if the dragons decide to eat everyone there, I don't think an ogre or a goblin can take them down."

Ro bared her teeth. "Try me,"

"But this isn't the biggest problem we have—yet," Mr. Forkle continued as if Ro hadn't said anything, "We still have to get through this crash first. And although we're at the bottom of the sea, somehow I'm not convinced we'll stay safe. In fact . . ." Mr. Forkle looked at a small screen projecting a view from Atlantis at the moment, where a reddish glow from Jupiter was not covering the entire city, "I think we'll be facing the biggest challenge up ahead in just a few minutes." He looked pointedly at the bodyguards. "Our planets crashing."
