CHAPTER 3
Liam’s POV the same day
“Aw, how heartfelt Zayn! Well times up! Mr. Payne, you’ll probably be receiving another call soon, so don’t stray away from you’re little mobile, alright!”
“Wait! Let me talk to them some –“ and then the call went dead. There was nothing I could do to keep talking to them. I just sat there for what felt like hours, not wanting to think about what happened to them. What sort of maniac would do this to them? What the hell did he want from us? Oh god, this is probably what happened to Louis, too. Three of my best friends have been taken, kidnapped, fucking stolen from my life! If only I went over to Harry’s place when they asked me to hang out. I was just so busy trying to write a new song that I thought it’d be okay if I said ‘no’ this one time. I could have protected them. I could have stopped it all from happening. I mean, three against one wouldn’t be bad, right? Or is there more than one psycho?
I can’t keep thinking like this. I told them I’d get help. I made a promise. I picked up my iPhone again and just scrolled through my contacts wondering who I should call. Uncle Si. He’s our best bet, he’ll know what to do. He can come over and we’ll call the police!
Wait. I can’t do that or else he’ll hurt Haz and Zayn. Or worse. But he said one other person, too. Shit, he’s got Louis also. Well I still need to call Simon. I need someone to help me.
I click on the contact and sit in my chair, just praying he’ll pick up. Granted, it’s highly unlikely he wouldn’t, considering he has his mobile on him 24/7. Please pick up Simon. Please pick up. Please pick up.
“Hello Liam. Are you getting ready for rehearsal?” Simon Cowell’s voice came on and I nearly jumped out of my seat I was so relieved.
“Thank god! Listen, it’s a long story but Louis, Harry, and Zayn have just been kidnapped. I need your help, please. I don’t know what to do and I’m scared for them. Some psycho man was at Harry’s place and took him and Zayn not just two seconds ago, and Louis was taken in an alleyway. I can’t call the police because he said he’d hurt them. Please, Simon, I don’t know what to do!” I’m basically in tears right now. I can’t hold myself together explaining the situation.
“Liam, calm down, alright? Are you sure this is actually happening? And you’re not lying to me right now, right?” Are you shitting me now, Uncle Si? I’m sitting here worrying for my lads lives and he thinks I’m bullshitting him?
“LISTEN TO ME! I’m not lying. Louis called me right before he was taken, and the psycho had Harry and Zayn talk to me as they were being kidnapped. He said I’d be expecting another call soon, I don’t know why, but all of this is real, Simon. My best friends have been kidnapped!” I’m about to lose it right now. I’m banging my fist on my armchair trying to get him to understand this is actually happening.
“Okay, okay, calm down Liam. I believe you. I’m on my way over right now and I’ll be there as fast as I can. It’s going to be alright. I’ll be there for when the other call comes in. Do you know if it’s for a ransom or something?”
“No, he didn’t say anything about a ransom. I don’t kn—,” oh god. Suddenly I stop dead in the middle of my words. I know exactly what the next call is going to be about. And it’s not going to be a ransom. Shit.
“Liam? Liam are you still there? Hang tight, I’m on my way.”
“Hurry,” were all the words I can say before I hung up and began dialing the next number.
I have to warn Niall.
