She perked up when he smiled at her
Taking all her pain away in that moment
Giving her a forever that she longed for

He left as soon as he came by
Contemplating his decisions
If letting her get close was safe
Or yet another mistake,
Sardonic.. he smiled wry

But they coveted each other
An urge they couldn't control
To touch and make love
To each others soul

Letting him go wasn't easy
To make a new start
But she had to be selfish
And think about her stupid heart

Perhaps she was a rough diamond
Or it was her own comforting lies
That made him cower away
Because for him it never rained
But only always poured
