NOTE: Aight so, I'm sorry about the long wait.  You guys have been sooo patient and great readers, I know I really appreciate it.

This chapter is, obviously from the title, lyrically inspired.  "The Phoenix" is a song by Fall Out Boy, and I've posted a lyric video to the side.  I suggest you listen and read, get a feel for what Morgan is going through in this upcoming scene!!

Lub-dub.

"Morgan."

Lub-dub.

"Morgan..."

Lub-dub.

"Come on, Morgan!  Snap out of it!"

Lub-dub.

I blinked, my vision swirling, blurring, refusing the settle on the figure now lying on Donatello's lab table.  Raphael was opposite his brother, pressing towels into various wounds to stop some of the bleeding while Donny worked on her wounds with a distraught precision that, somewhere in the back of my mind, astounded me.  I couldn't process it, any of it.  But there she was, her body a bloody mess, so much that I barely recognized her.  The only thing I was sure of was my heart, beating loudly, confidently, mockingly in my ears and thrumming under my fingertips.  Like some damn trickster, proving that after everything, I was still alive.

Lub-dub.

You are the brick tied to me that's dragging me down
Strike a match and I'll burn you to the ground
We are the jack-o-lanterns in July
Setting fire to the sky...

Lub-dub.

My head whipped back as someone slapped me across the face.  Slowly, I turned back to face forward, chest heaving and eyes wide.  "Leo!" I heard Michelangelo exclaim.

"Sorry,"  Leonardo said, grimacing.

"Kylee...."  I mumbled.

I felt a three-fingered hand on my shoulder.  "Mo, not gonna lie... She doesn't look good."  Mikey said quietly.

Lub-dub.

My eyes hardened, and my fingers dug into the skin of my biceps.  "She's not allowed to die." I growled.  I looked at those bright blue eyes that always made my heart melt, but the pity and sadness welling inside of them only made me more angry.  "She's not allowed to die, damn it!"

Here comes the rising tide
So come on
Put on your war paint...

"You can't be serious." Caitlyn said, slightly behind me and a little to my right.  I spun to look at her, and my expression hardened.  She met my gaze with empty, heartless eyes, arms also crossed but her body language was entirely different.  Careless.  Resentful.  Filled with disgust and hate- it was hard to believe we were even related.  "She let Nightmare kill Becca.  Or have you already forgotten that?"

I winced at the mention of our deceased sister.  "Do you want to be responsible for another death in the family?" I shot back, surprised at how low and dangerous I could make my voice sound.  While Mikey stepped away from me in apprehension, Caitlyn was not so easily impressed.

She simply shrugged, circling around behind me again, closer to Kylee, forcing me to follow her movement.  "We don't have to kill her ourselves." She said.  "But you know as well as I do that she will die without magic."

My anger quickly turned to blind fury.  "Who the hell are you?!" I yelled.  Now Mikey was forced to act, hands wrapping around my upper arms and pulling me back against his plastron.  Caitlyn gave me a look that mirrored...amusement?  Where was the girl who had agreed with me that we needed to try to get through to Kylee?!
