The members will be part of JYPE's survival debut show called Stray Kids. The members will go through intense training and mysterious missions to test their skills and teamwork with the goal of debuting with all 9 members. They released the music video 'Hellevator' before debuting and the airing of the show. The show starts airing on October 17, 2017. Prior to Stray Kids, Felix, Chan, Jisung, and Jeongin lived together. However, all the members moved in together once they started filming Stray Kids. Chan, Jisung, and Changbin are also in a unit group called 3RACHA which is a hip hop group under JYP. Chan then used 3RACHA as the basis to create Stray Kids. Member Minho was the first member eliminated (ep. 4) and Felix was also eliminated. However in the final episode the group had the opportunity to compete to debut with all 9 members. They succeeded and Felix and Minho returned to the group.
The team was recruited and created by member Chan. They created their group name and were in charge of self-producing and choreographing their first song 'Hellevator'. Jisung and Changbin wrote the rap for the song and Chan produced it.
The rooms in their dorm are organized: Room 1: Hyunjin Changbin Jeongjin and Jisung Room 2: Chan Woojin Minho Room 3: Felix Sungmin
