6/It's all I've been thinking about lately

We landed on Canada last night.My parents came to pick us up from the airport and we came home immediately.My mom had cooked dinner for us and after we ate we went to bed right after .I was extremely tired and Lana was probably exhausted too.

This morning Alana had woken up early and went to the grocery store with my mom.I am extremely happy that they get along because my mom and Vicky never did.But then again Alana and Vicky were completely different personalities.They had prepared breakfast and Alana came to my room and woke me up with a nice cup of coffee.Aaliyah is out with friends and is coming home for lunch along with her boyfriend.Right now me,Alana and my parents are in the living room,the Canadian anthem blaring through the speakers.It was 1st July,better known as Canada day

"So it's like the 4th July in America?"-I heard Alana ask my dad as she sat infront of the television,her eyes taped to the screen

"Yes,exactly!"-my dad nodded-"Karen we better start the grill."

My dad had invited some of my closest cousins to spend the day over at our house.It was like a family tradition

"Yes"-my mom agreed-"Shawn,your cousin Melinda is bringing her 2 year old son.He is the cutest little child"

"What's his name?"-Alana asked.She absolutely adored kids

"Jason"

"Can I help you with anything?"-Alana asked my mom as she stood up

"A little help would be nice I suppose"-my mom smiled-"Thank you Alana"

My mom headed to the kitchen along with Alana,my dad was already in the garden setting the grill so I went to the kitchen.My mom was taking out the plates and glasses.Alana was making a salad.When I saw her cutting down tomatoes my face scrunched in disgust.

Yuck

Alana started laughing as I sat down on the table-"How can you eat that?"

She looked at me with a teasing smirk on her face-"You pick it up,just like this"-She picked up a small piece and took a bite-"And you chew.That's how you do it"

"You're not kissing me without brushing your teeth at first"-I joked and she started laughing

"You hate them that much huh?"-she asked as she started pouring some vinegar and olive oil to the green salad

"You have no idea"

She looked at me-"Actually I do.That's why...I made you a salad without tomatoes"

She showed me the other salad she had made.Oh this girl..-"You're awesome.I absolutely love you"

She smiled-"I love you too"

"Shawn,I forgot the napkins on the kitchen counter! Would you mind bringing them over to the garden?"-I heard my mom yell

"Yeah sure"-I yelled back.I pecked Alanas cheek before grabbing the napkins and heading to the garden.My mom had set the table up perfectly.There were 15 plates and glasses.Forks,spoons,knifes.Beers

My dad was preparing the meat

"They should be here any second now"-My mom said as she ran back to the kitchen only to return with some baked potatoes and some other food

"This smells amazing mom"-I comment as I help her carry them out to the table

"Oh thank you hunny"-she smiled giving me a hug.-"Can you please go and take the salad-"
