"Cellophane flowers of yellow and green, towering over your head.
Look for the girl with the sun in her eyes,
And she's gone."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I couldn't wait for tonight
To get to the point of escaping reality's tight grasp
If there's one thing I've learned,
It's sometimes better to be impulsive than to regret not being impulsive later on
Because regret practically eats you alive
With questions like "What if?"
There's a way to push those thoughts away
It's a little word I've been using more frequently
"Yes"
The sun was just beginning to set as we walked in a forest hand in hand together, following a trail to an unknown destination
Sometimes not knowing where I'm being lead to excites me in ways I never thought possible
With a pulsing heartbeat, I turned to Andrew and smiled at him
Brushing a strand of loose hair away from his face, he smiled and squeezed my hand
"We're going to have fun tonight."
And with the suns orange rays surrounding us, I truly believed him
After a few minutes of walking, my backpack began making my shoulders hurt
"Will we be there soon?"
"Should be. It'll be worth the effort."
A second later he abruptly stopped and pointed out a tiny opening beside a tree
"Almost here, follow me."
"Wait, you mean we're going off the trail and into the woods?"
"Babe, it's totally illegal to start a camp fire here, which is why it's crucial that the fire is started where no one can find it."
"I hate you."
With a smirk, he muttered the words, "no you don't" under his breath and held a branch for me to walk through
After an agonizing walk through the woods, tripping on the ground and getting hit by an endless number of branches, we finally got there
Whoa, this was certainly an interesting place
Huge tree limbs had been placed on a fallen branch to make an actual t-pee, something the Indians used to live in
A fire had already been started, and about fifteen to twenty people sat around it underneath the t-pee
I could see a joint being passed around and the burning ends of multiple cigarettes
These were our kind of people
Walking up to it, I recognized most of them were from previous parties, so I greeted them
A shriek erupted from one of the girls and I turned around to see Shelby running up to hug me
"Girl, we are going to have SO much fun tonight! Are you ready to trip balls?"
"I don't even know what we're going to be doing yet!"
Andrew walked up behind me after saying hey to everyone and whispered in my ear,
"Have you ever heard of the term Lucy in the sky?"
I shook my head no
"We're going to be tripping on acid tonight, babe."
