Twenty-Seven

"McCann" I make the ball into the hoop then turn around to see an old business partner
"Contreras" I say walking over and we greet each other the way all guys do
"Didn't think we'd be put in the same prison" He says, I shrug
"Lots of people are here, or were. When did they get you? How?" I ask crossing my arms and standing in a relaxed position
"Got me two days ago, I was set up and the Feds surrounded me" He says shrugging
"Damn, well, I heard there was going to be a group breaking out tonight if you want to get out of here" I say lowering my voice, he raises a brow then eyes around
"You in that group?" He asks in a low voice as well, I shake my head
"I'm getting out of here legally" I say
"So what's going around is true, you are done" He says back to his regular voice, I shrug
"I found the girl of my dreams" I say, he nods
"Who do I go too for tonight?" He asks
"Cell 586 at five minutes to midnight" I say, he nods
"Good looking out McCann, I'll make sure to repay your guys" He says then walks away, I get the basketball and shoot it again, making it in.

"McCann!" A guard, Daniel, calls out, I drop the ball and walk over
"Phone call" He says in a low voice before cuffing me and acting as if he's taking me to my cell, we stop in a lonely hallway and he hands me his phone
"Hello" I say as he looks around making sure nobody is coming
"What's up bro" Ryan says, I smile
"Shit, hanging in here. Fighting the temptations of breaking out like everyone has been doing, there's been like three already bro" I say
"Damn, I would have been left that hell hole" He says chuckling
"Miley is the only thing keeping me in" I say
"Speaking of Miley, I'm here with her in New York, we all are actually" He says
"Is she nearby? I need to hear her voice" I say
"She just walked in actually" He says
"Who are you talking to?" I hear her ask, I can't help but smile at the sound of her
"Hello?" She speaks into the phone
"Hey baby" I say, her breathe hitches
"Jason" She whispers
"I missed hearing you say my name" I say
"God, I miss you" She says
"Not long now baby, not long until we are together again fighting for each other" I say
"I can't wait to see you, I have things to tell you" She says, Daniel snaps his fingers signaling it's been long enough and I nod
"Baby, I have to go. Tell Ryan I'll get in touch soon, I love you Miley" I say
"I love you too Jason" She says then Daniel takes the phone hanging up

"Sorry about this" He whispers then punches my stomach, then my ribs, and I end up on the floor caught off guard
"Daniel, what are you doing?" A guard asks walking over
"This little shit thought it would be funny to act smart with me, so I was teaching him a lesson" He says then kicks me
"I'm going to kill you" I whisper low enough for him to be the only one to hear me
"Well make sure not to make it too obvious that it wasn't another inmate" The guard says then walks away, Daniel helps me up and I wait until the other guard is far from ear shot then punch Daniel in the face
"Don't you ever, hit me" I say, he nods
"Sorry boss, I had to do something that he'd buy" He says rubbing his right cheek and jaw, I hold my ribs but don't show pain
"Take me to my damn cell" I say, he nods and we walk.

Miley's POV

"He'll get in touch with you soon" I say, he nods
"How did you call him?" Dani asks as he sits next to Za on the couch where they all are
"We have a guy, well a couple of guys, in there and in other prisons that work for us" Ry says
"That's pretty neat" Bryan says
"It's useful, before Jason got locked up we used them to get private time with some inmates that owe us or some enemies we turned in anonymously" Alfredo says
"You guys turned people in?" Dani asks
"Yeah, if they didn't pay us back or if they were enemies that we just wanted to get out of our way without getting our hands dirty" Za says shrugging
"Nice methods" Bryan says, I go to the kitchen not wanting to hear their conversation at the moment

"You okay?" I look up to see Taner, I nod
"I'm like two months along, I think the hormones are getting to me" I say, he nods
"Sam misses you, she is always asking for you" He says, I smile
"I miss her too, where is she?" I ask
"She's back at my place, all the flying around and stuff gets to her easily. I'll bring her by later" He says, I nod
"Taner, be honest with me" I say
"What's up?" He asks as he opens the refrigerator grabbing a Capri-sun
"Do you honestly think I'll get Jason's time shortened?" I ask looking at him, he sucks on his juice then sets it down
"Truthfully?" He asks, I nod
"Be honest" I say, he sighs

"No, I honestly think it's a lost cause" He says, I let my head drop
"But, I honestly believe you being pregnant will get it shortened, if the jury aren't dicks" He says, I look at him
"You think God did this intentionally?" I ask, he nods
"God does things for good to come out of it" He says, I hug him
"I pray that you're right, I don't want this baby to grow up without his or her dad" I say
"She or he won't, Jason will find a way to be with you two through it all" He says tightening his arms around me
"Thank you Taner" I say, he nods
"That's what friends are for" He says
