The Termite Effect

Ephesians 3:16

I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being.

Termites are tiny creatures that cause big damages on wooden structure. The real problem is that it is often too late to detect the damage. Termites are often concealed until timbers are severely damaged and exhibit surface changes. 

The effect of sin in one’s life is very similar to the termite effect. Sin attacks the inner being for aprolonged time until our life begins to show negative changes and, consequently, be irreversibly damaged. 

Paul’s prayer for the Ephesians should be our prayer for our own life too. We need to pray that God would strengthen our inner being, our true self which is the sum total of all our attitudes and character. It is who we really are minus the façade and the image we try to put on before people.

If sin attacks our inner being and we do not do anything about it, it would just be a matter of time before our life becomes heavily damaged by it. 

“Holy Spirit, with your power, strengthen our inner being.”
