A girl sat inside,
looking out
among the world
she never had the chance to visit.
Wondering why.
Why she never left.
Why other kids got to leave.
Why, why, why.
A boy around her age
suddenly came into view.
How sad he looks,
she thought.
Why does he look sad?
He isn't the one being
kept inside.
She continued to watch,
as he walked through
her line of vision.
Suddenly, he looked up,
meeting her gaze,
hidden behind the cold glass
window. He gazed
closer, seeing her own
sadness, and the small
blue and black marks on
her face.
She looked away though,
as her mother came into
the room and saw
what was taking place.
The boy stopped walking.
He was in utter awe
at what he saw.
The woman was
hitting the child. He
heard the girl, scream
in pain at one last slap
made its way to her face.
After what felt like
eternity to the boy,
the woman looked out
the window, and saw the
boy watching her.
His instincts caught up
with him then, and he ran.
Down the few blocks to his
house, up the little stone
steps, and through
the door. He told his
parents what he
had witnessed, and
they called the police
immediately.
By the time that
the police showed up,
the girl was luckily
alive. The boy had
saved her life. And
she was extremely
thankful for it. The mother
who had beaten her
child ended up in jail,
and ultimately, after
long discussions
the parents of the boy
ended up adopting the girl.
Now, you may be thinking
that this is a happy ending,
and I tell you yes, but
not all of these stories
are happy. Some end
up terribly wrong. Some
children die, others are
scarred for the rest of their
lives.
If you think
hurt, beaten, or worse,
become the little boy.
Save them, no matter
what they tell you.
They will thank you for it.
Stop this madness,
and let others live.
Stop child
abuse.
